I don't mind the Gen 3 Glocks, but the Gen 4s checkering eats into my hands, and they aren't frail pussy hands either. Plus, I like a gun that looks good and is reliable

Have you looked at Taurus? They seem to get a lot or respect on this board

Grip safety is the US military's way of fing up one of the greatest guns of all time!

Fired the XDM today. Hardly noticed the grip safety at all really. Wouldn't stop me from buying it.

LOL, so you won't buy a guy that has been used in a homicide now.

I like my G42 and G20, if I was in the market for a 9mm I would buy another G series...

When some of the top trainers/guys that know way more than me decide Glock's aren't the way to go, I'll start valuing some of theses posters opinions more... I rarely bash other guns, but because I have Glock in my user name I suddenly don't have a valid opinion.

Untwist your panties, it was a joke.

But, the grip safety must be depressed to retract the slide.
Did not know that. It was on my list of contenders for my next handgun. Thanks for that little nugget of info.

Ironically, the XDS pistols do not share that locked slide feature.

BTW, Glocks are more in line with Springfield's regular XD pistols.

The XDM series is considered their "high end" line - match grade barrel, match grade trigger, etc.

If you want to stay in that $500 area, go M&P and get an apex trigger

This. I thought the PPQ had an amazing trigger, the Apex FSS trigger on an MP blows it away.

I got an XD 45 with a thumb safety. Gave me the gun I wanted and eliminated solved my concerns about the grip safety.

Once they fixed the KABOOM! issue - they've been right as rain.

The ergos take some getting used to. I still favor my Sigs because I shoot them so well with little effort. However, if someone said, "We'll buy all of it, ammo, magazines, whatever, you just have to use all Glocks, all the time" - I'd shrug and say, "Twist my arm, but okay."

Pretty much this for me. I also prefer DA/SA or even DAO depending on application over the striker fire.

I own one of each.

I like them both - the XDM is a more polished product, but the glock fits my hand better. And I feel like I could ignore the glock for years and it wouldn't harm it one bit.

Glock 19 potentially saved my life on a very scary occasion so I'm kinda partial to Glock as you guys can understand.

And this is what it really comes down to.....just like buying a car.

Though, to a lesser extent (not saving my life), the first semi auto I ever fired was a Glock 17....It felt awesome because I had never done it before.

Had it been an M&P 45, then I would have an M&P.

It comes down to what you tried first and what you trust (what what you were initially told to trust).

I have a guy that works on Nissans in a private garage.....I will never buy anything but a used Nissan, as long as he is in business.

It all comes down to trust and what you came to know, in the beginning.

I don't dis any/most brands because folks get their feelings hurt. If a guy trusts Ruger and I say something about the SR9, then he takes offense to his gun, and therefore his decision-making process.

I could care less about the 1911 guys that dis Glocks, it doesn't hurt my feelings in the least.

Whatever you get, will be the best step in keeping protection by your side.....that is what ultimately counts.
