No, and you can get 5 round pmags.

I can certainly understand the recoil issue. Not exactly the rifle I’d want to haul to the range and see how many times I can hit something 400 yards away. But I’m with you I’d never part with mine. I couldn’t ask for a rifle to perform better and withstand the kind of elements I’ve exposed that Browning A-Bolt to. And it always goes bang. I’ll pass mine along to my son when I physically can’t go deer hunting anymore.

Not really any good one, as long as there’s no capacity restriction in the state you’re hunting. Accuracy is gonna vary with the build/barrel quality, and velocity will be a little lower out of a shorter barrel, but at practical distances it’s fine.

indiana makes it hard when they only allow 1-2 weeks of using a rifle out of the whole season.

Oh my! Thankfully I don't live in Indiana.

I'm jealous of that much rifle. My zone has 9 days of either slug or muzzleloader.

I’m actually hunting with an AR chambered in 6.8 SPC that I built myself. It’s a tack driver and will kill anything I need to shoot out to 250 yards. Ammo availability is a problem though.

Ruger 30 06 with leopold 50 mm scope. Or go with .308, I like the 3006 better as you can elk hunt etc too but .308 is excellent choice

Did you know you can also elk hunt with a .308?

The AR10 isn’t the correct answer for deer because it will be inherently less accurate than a bolt action. It is also slightly less safe than a bolt action. If you must use a semi auto for deer hunting, go with the BAR.

My only issue with an AR is the ergonomics. There's no reason a decent AR10 wouldn't shoot just as well as a decent bolt gun.

No you can't.

The bullet practically bounces off of them at .308 speed

100 fps less makes a huge difference!

SE TN, in the mountains, hills? What is the furthest shot you can take or see? Any chance you will bear hunt in the future?

Go 308 or 3006 imo.
