It doesn't matter that it happened 3 weeks ago of that it even happened at all.
What matters is when facebook says it happened. Once the threads start showing up its frickin on.

As bad as this is, isn't it just certain types of 5.56?

Do that many people really m855 rounds that much?
I use the xm193 more so.
I keep seeing people say, "well, I don't buy green tip ammo anyway."
Do you realize that the market value of ammo is almost entirely determined by the supply of military surplus ammo?
M855 being banned would make every single type of 5.56 or .223 round exponentially more expensive. This is one of the big reasons I speculate they are trying to pass it - make black rifles more expensive to shoot.

The M855 penetrator round, commonly referred to as "green tip", will be the only ones banned. But like I said, it will have a domino effect in terms of ammo pricing all across the board.

You know this ammo craze shite is completely driven by salad bowl helmet wearing pipe welders who somehow were allowed to get their hands on internets.

7.62X51 NATO no problem aqui.
Just bought 500 rds 150gr Russian shite at $8.51 per 20rd box after today's announcement. This will be a domino effect.
I have never understood the AR hard ons when there are so many more superior choices in weaponry.

Not that difficult to understand, its a weight and price issue.

And then there's you. The ole American entrpreneuer helping stimulate the artificial shortage while simultaneously capitalizing on said salad bowl helmet rednecks.
And then there's me, the ole guy who has a few more bullets than he needs and can fit them all in a gallon ziplock bag.
As long as shotgun shells are easy to get, I'm good.

I agree with what RA said.
It's an amazing mid-range weapon. Lightweight, low recoil, easy to mount any optic, versatile ammo capacity, adjustable stock, options for mounting anything on the handguard, good rifle for females, etc. I could go all day.
I, too, like a nice 308 battlerifle. An M1A SOCOM16 gets me jacked up every time I see a picture. But I realize what it's designed for and what its limitations are.
For home defense, AR > M1A. For shots over 300 yards, M1A > AR.

well the issue, in my opinion, is that I get 5 emails a day from the NRA trying to freak me out about something being banned and Obama taking our guns. Most of which are all horseshite, they are just trying to scare people and get them to join the NRA so they can $$$. Its hard to sift through all the shite and find out what is really going on
agree completely...while I support the lobbying efforts of the NRA, I get put off quickly by these tactics when I see them...I basically take everything they say with a grain of salt at this point...

I don't mind the NRA trying to get money. But I definitely agree the constant fear-mongering and phone calls get irritating.
But I guess if that's what it takes to combat it all, then so be it.

Bapple is absolutely right on this. M193 (55gr FMJ) is not the military standard and hasn't been for a long time. The only reason you can find it at a cheaper price is because a lot of people think they need the latest and greatest whiz bang ammo around, which is the M855.
Once that goes away, the price of any remaining 5.56 / .223 ammo will increase.
I hope the NRA, other shooting orgs and Congress realize this is a backdoor attempt at gun control, and has nothing to do with "armor piercing" ammo. It needs to be stopped dead cold.

What makes this even more fishy is that the military is slowly adopting open-tip match ammo and the new M855A1, which is all-copper and still has a penetrator in it.
So what are they going to do with all that left over green tip? -----> military "surplus" ammo
And if that gets banned? -----> $$$^^^^^^^

FWIW, if you still want to buy good quality 5.56, check out Palmetto State Armory. They still have the Federal Independence 55 grain FMJ for $6.19 a box. 500 rounds will run you $170 and that includes shipping.

You mean that the President you voted for thats in office really isn't trying to ban M855 by executive order? Its all a hoax?

This x 1000. My personal bet is that ammo manufacturers are secretly bribing the ATF and have promised Obama millions in donations to his foundation on leaving office.
