Top water spinner bait
I have never heard either described like this.

And to the OP, go with senkos, texas rig stuff, and a top water or two for the bass.

For crappie, get some beetle spins, road runners, some heads and assortment of garland bodies, and some 1 Aberdeen hooks, split shot, and some corks for live bait or you can use jig under cork.

Rooster tails are a great clear water bait.

Don't forget getzits and road runners.

Small crawfish looking stuff is also good for smallies.

Rattle traps are good for covering a lot of area and finding bass. If bass are hitting top water nothing beats a Zara Spook or Lucky 13 getting blown out of the water. Beetle spins are good, can get bass and crappie with them. A big ole jig with some kind of plastic creature behind it works well too, I prefer all black. Small jigs for crappie or a bucket of minnows. That's about all I fish with now a days.

Gotta get some kast master spoons in gold, silver and silver/blue they will catch any species and have never let me down! They are in the salt water section of Bass Pro and sell like hot cakes

Bass fishing must haves:
1/8 oz bullet sinker and 3 or 4 alt hooks for Texas rigging soft plastics.

Good soft plastics include: rage craws, zoom speed craws, zoom lizards, powerbait worms, havoc craw fatties. Zoom also makes flukes that are deadly fished weightless.

Crankbaits or lipless crankbaits: I prefer strike king kvd cranks and red eye shad lipless cranks. Rat L Trap make some good ones as well.

Spinnerbaits in smaller sizes work better IMO

Jerk baits such as suspending minnows and rouges are deadly in the spring and early summer.

"Crappie" fishing

Tube jig with or without spinner on 1/32 oz jig head with a power bait crappie nibblet on the hook.

Small crankbaits

You will have fun learning...

Everyone here has excellent suggestions.

If you try Rattletraps (or other lures with trebles), even from shore, it's probably good to have something like a Lure Retriever (use Google to check out). About $15... Some good ones out there besides the specific Bass Pro Shop's "Lure Retriever" (IMO).

For bass (IMO, depending on time of year), plastics (worms, lizards, craws, creatures, etc.) Texas rigged, jigs (1/4 - 3/4 oz. in a myriad of colors including plastic or pork rind trailers), lipless crankbaits like aforementioned Rattletraps (Spots, et. al.). Note all these have one thing in common when casting from shore: they will all get to the bottom or close to it, assuming you are casting out... If you want to walk the banks and cast along the shoreline, go with topwaters or shallow floater-divers with small lip/bill (aforementioned Bandit 100 is good in this shallow floater-diver category). Texas rigged plastics (weedless) baits also work when cast up and down the shoreline while walking the banks. There are really a lot of choices...

For perch and crappie, live bait under a cork works (again, depends on time of year). Small 1/32 - 1/16 oz plastic jig baits, plastic tube baits, Beetle Spins (I love Chartreuse/Black, Black/Chartreuse, White, White/Red Spot), etc. fished at correct depth (either retrieving bait or fishing semi-stationary under a cork) for time of year work well. Other people in posts above have many more comments (that I agree with). Good luck.

From an old-timer. Have fun.
