Christmas present. 20ga. Do any of y'all have any experience with this gun? I held both the SX3 and the Affinity at Puglias the other day and liked both, as those two were around the upper end of what I can spend. What do y'all think? I've never had any experience with either. I'm leaning towards the Affinity because it's cheaper, Italian made by Benelli (my SBEII is a tank), and it swung better to me.

Two of the better offerings for their respective operating systems in that price range. Just choose whether you want gas or inertia. You will be happy with either

Got my son the franchi affinity 20 gauge youth.

He is nearly 2 full season in - it had a hiccup at the start but Franchise fixed it and it works like a charm. It operates very smoothly...just like a benelli.

I have the SX3 in 12 ga. I love it. Had the SX2 before the 3.
The Winchester is a gas gun, believe the Franchi in inertia. No experience with the Franchi.
Eta: I did have a Franchi 620, that was sweet as hell.

Right. Inertia v. Gas doesn't matter too much to me, but another reason I'm leaning towards the Franchi is because of the easy takedown and maintenance.

I had an I-12. Benelli eventually bought it back because it wouldn't cycle. Have a friend with one that has a cycling problem as well. These aren't the affinity, but they used the inertia system.

Just got the call that my little boy's gun is in. Can't wait for him to find it on Christmas morning!

How big is he? I'm debating whether I should buy the compact or the full size 20. The gun is for my girlfriend and she's probably 5'3" and 100lbs.

The 620 I had was a youth gun for my wife, 5' 1". The barrel was 24" if I recall correctly.

He's 9. Around 4'5"

This is the .20 compact with 24" barrel.

Based on those measurements, do you guys think I should get the youth/compact or a full size?

I'd go compact. It's not like it will be too small, she will still be able to handle it. Plus, youth 20ga is a hell of a rabbit gun.

I liked the smaller gun. It was really handy and easy for her to handle. If you hunt out of a pit, the 24" barrel can be annoying for your buddies in there with you. Like DSD said, it is a fine rabbit gun.

My son has a Franchi Affinti 12 gauge inertia. He loves it. If I am not mistaken, It is made on the same assembly line, by the same people with the same parts as the Benelli M2 that costs about $1300.00.

After they researched it and working with my dealer....my son's gun was in a batch that was assembled with a full size 20 gauge magazine tube spring. It caused havoc until we figured it out.

I cut the spring down 3 inches, per Franchi's instructions and it is sexy smooth now. They sent a new spring and end cap...I damaged the end cap while trying to repair the gun in the blind.
