Weedeating around the house and stuck my foot under the limbs on the lantana bush so I could get beneath underneath them and there we this little guy laying there. Went and got pool net and pistol to try and find him again and shoot him. Took forever to find, they can hide good in those little bushes. Be careful pulling weeds in flower beds!

yikes is right.
I have yet to come across a venomous snake in my yard (knock on wood) so im not sure how I would react. I'd hate to kill a snake...but I dont know that id risk getting myself bit trying to relocate it and id have a hard time letting it go about its way. I would want to catch it...have caught many non venomous but never venomous...I know how just never have. I guess it would depend on the situation at that time.

I was looking for a wayward shot at Links On The Bayou a few years ago. Walking through 10-12" ragweed. I felt something squishy and look down to see a small cottonmouth doing his best to bite my ankle. My foot was too close to its head for it to reach back. I could not hit a shot for 3 holes.

That would be my first instinct for sure.
I found one at a skeet shoot that we had a station tent at. Going to pack up everything and a little baby one was chilling in the box that the tent was to go in and slid out when the box was picked up. That was right next to the tent where everyone had been all day...freaked some out. I let it go about its way becasue we were out in the wilderness.

I was at work yesterday talking how we have never seen a venomous snake in the yard, just rat snakes and a king snake, relocated a rat snake they day before that was in the carport then get home and find that one. He was in the exact area that my boys go out looking for frogs at night too is what bothers me.

Had 1 come up on my back porch couple years ago while bbq'n, prob 3-4' long. Didn't realize what it was until I picked it up and looked at its eyes, then it decided to open its mouth. It was then laid upon the ground and it caught a shovel upside the head. Havent seen one since.... knock on wood.

I found a couple of small copperheads in my garden after a heavy rain (house abutted drainage ditch) a couple years ago. They were small enough that I felt fine picking them up with a shovel and placing them in a 5 gallon bucket. Put the lid on and brought them to the woods.

A subconscious expression of your recent feelings of inadequacy.

A pass? I usually offer them a glass of water or cold beer.

I wish a King snake would take up residence at my place. About three weeks ago I found a young copperhead (12" long) on the back porch underneath my grill. He died, but I keep looking for his mama.
Last year I lost a dog to a large rattler that was later killed.
The only king snake I've seen was dead on the road in front of the house.
