heres my advice. don't be a potlicker. go fish on your own, chunk out h&h or DOA under a cork, and find the fish.
if you're old enough to sneak into Fred's, youre old enough to not be spoonfed fishing spots

You do realize you don't need someone to spoonfeed you spots to go fishing right? Grow a little hair on your nuts and figure it out for yourself. Put a poppin cork on with a sparkle beetle and commence to chuckin that sucker for 8 hours straight. That's how every fisherman figures it out. Coming on here and whining about is a great way to turn away everybody that might help you out. Be thankful you have a boat to go out on. Have fun and don't get stuck overnight.

Read something good about a guy in Lake Charles. Says he cast 20-50% more than anyone he knows and that's why he catches the most fish. He had it broken down to how many more miles his bait was in the water over the course of ayear

Sport isn't dying, young padawan.

People on the OB are more than willing to give advice (baits, fishing techniques, etc.), but you asked a bunch of guys to give away their productive fishing spots on a public website. How did you think it was going to go?

Figure it out like everyone before you figured it out. Find somewhere to launch. Study the maps. Learn the area. Find the fish. ETA: In addition to not being a beggar, it's more rewarding that way.

That is a pretty small sample size.
If less kids are fishing it's not because of the TD outdoor board.

Jesus Christ I can't believe the OB is giving grief to an 18 y/o who is asking for fishing tips.
If you've ever fished the Rigolets, you know that it's a difficult area to fish and someone new to the area will need advice to do anything other than bottom fish the L&N bridge.
Get off your high horses.

Big difference between asking for tips and asking for locations. This dude knows how to fish. He's not a newbie. He's essentially asking for coordinates.

How willing are you to give away your productive fishing locations on a public website?

Nahh, f that man. To get in on the action you need to provide some first. You can't just come to a forum without posting a few trips good or bad and expect us to just straight up tell where we're catching. Never will you see me ask if fish are biting anywhere. What you will see me to is post reports good and bad.

The sport isn't dying. It's just getting lazy. New fishermen want to be told where the fish are, and din't want to work for it. There are other forums that will give you everything: what they were biting on, what the weather was, when they were biting, general area, etc.

But people still want the fish handed to them.

Go fishing, and stop whining about "older outdoorsmen" being unwilling to give up their spots so easily.

Leave the board a few months and come back to people down voting a fishing thread.

And now I understand. People need to work for their fish. This isn't a video game.
Told a guide at Toledo once where we were hammering bass, he and the guide community fished it dry.
Keep your sweet spots secret, you worked for them, you derserve their reward.
