Fishing License... wait or nah?

Heading to the lake this coming weekend for the July 4th holiday.
My current fishing license, like everyone's, will expire on June 30th.
Do I need to wait until the 1st to get my license for next year? Or can I get it anytime this week and it still be valid for next year?

You can renew it now. I got my 2016-2017 license about 3 weeks ago. I suggest doing it online.

I would wait until after July 4th to purchase a fishing liscense.

June 1st they start selling licenses that expire June 30 2017. Go now.

Thanks guys. I got it done online. Took some phone calls since my DL# wasn't showing as valid. Someone at the LDWF had to do an override to allow me to use the system.

The license I bought almost 4 weeks ago says "Expires 06/30/2017 (Unless Noted Elsewhere)"

Side note...every time I have called LDWF, they have been courteous and surprisingly efficient. Kudos to them.

I agree. I was on hold for about 15 min on the licensing side, hung up and called an operator. She took my info and emailed a lady in licensing. The lady in licensing called me within 5 min. They were extremely helpful.
The last two years, since I moved back from TN I have had problems getting my hunting and fishing licenses because it shows my DL# isn't on file with the LDWF. Each year they have had to upload a copy of my DL and verify that it is correct, then they do an override and I am able to get my licenses. I hope they get it fixed.
