Gun does not equal toy.

And who is the blonde in your avatar? She looks like a nice wholesome girl.

Sorry, I don't care if you checked and cleared a gun 100 times, it is still to be treated like it is loaded.

Damn large wounds for a 40 Cal. I sure bet that he wishes that would have been a 9mm.

Young guy lost his leg here last year. His brother went with him to the gun range, and they had pulled the mags from the guns and thought they were all unloaded. While moving a hangun, the passenger fired the gun not knowing there was one in the chamber and it hit the femoral artery. Quick thinking saved his brothers life, but not the leg.

That story and photo should be posted in every internet thread that starts with "Thinking about buying my first handgun... what should I buy?"

I had a buddy that shot another one through the leg with a 270 a few years back. Round didn't eject when he cycled it, and he didn't notice. Pulled the trigger with the muzzle aimed at the ground and bullet ricocheted off of the ground into the other guy's leg and into the next apartment. Missed a girl sleeping in her bed by a foot.

Both of them had been hunting their whole lives, just had one moment of not paying attention

Dude could have thought he did safety check just like he's done 1000 times. Instead he racked slide and dropped mag instead of the other way around. Only takes one dumbass brainfart. Not making an excuse for him being an idiot. Shouldn't have had it around a 5 yo either

Conversation I overheard at the Slidell Academy gun counter yesterday between a young-20's looking guy and an employee behind the counter:

Customer: I want to buy a pistol.

Employee: Well, what kind are you wanting?

Customer: What's the best kind?

Employee: Did you have a make or model in mind? What are you intending to use it for?

Customer: I just want to buy something before the ban and there's nothing left.

Employee: Well, while you're thinking about what you'd like, start filling out the background check for me for me.

Customer: Wait. What's this for?

Employee: If you wish to buy a pistol, you need to pass a background check in order to do so.

Customer: Well I don't know if I want to give all that information out. Does the form have to be complete. I don't want to give out my social.

Employee: I'm sorry sir. If it's not complete we cannot sell you a pistol.

Customer: That's okay. I don't know what I want anyway. (walks away)

I don't want to be anywhere near idiots like this that are buying guns "just because" and they've never touched a gun before in their lives.

Just FYI the wounds are so big because of the angle the bullet entered and exited. You wouldn't see wounds like that on center mass hits.

I feel much more comfortable around people handling long guns, than handguns.
The longer barrel IMO advertises the direction of the muzzle to the gun handler and the bystander much better.
