-Every gun is loaded until checked and cleared TWICE!
-Never goof around with an unfamiliar weapon
-Muzzle control people
Break these basic rules and you can wind up like this friend of a friend did less than 30 minutes after buying his first handgun, a Glock .40 cal.
Dropped mag and fiddling with it while sitting on the couch. Right next to him was his brother and his 5 yr old niece sitting on his lap.
Round, which was miraculously in the chamber, went in wrist, out forearm, into couch missing brother/niece by inches, out of couch through one living room chair and lodged in second chair.
Stupid hurts folks[/img]

Somebody's looking after that moron.
Lets hope they learned something profound from it.

Damn that's pretty gruesome . And I don't know if I would be taking pics right after I shot myself

40 cal has great ballistic expansion.
Very glad nobody was killed or injured (worse). Hate he had to learn a lesson this way, but hope its one all 3 remember and continue to teach others from experience.

You forgot trigger discipline.

^^^ What he said.
No offense, but sounds like your buddy is total retard. Fooling around with a gun with kids present like that....
Dude should never own a gun. He is clearly not capable of handling the responsibility.

- Treat all guns as if they are loaded
- Never touch the trigger until you are ready to shoot
- Only point a gun at something you are willing to destroy
- Know what is beyond what you are shooting
That dudes arm will never be the same. Damn that looks like it hurts.

I agree. You don't fool around with a gun, especially a loaded one, when people are sitting right next to you. I'm glad it wasn't worse than it was, but damn.

That's the one thing about this gun craze that scares me. Bunch of ignorant people with no knowledge about firearms are buying them.

No offense, but I NEVER said he was MY buddy.
MY bud, the one that sent me the pics and storyline , knew this guy from hunting with his dad years ago. Their pop taught them hunting safety, etc and they grew up with it. But the one that did this had no real handgun experience to speak of.
Said he loaded it before he left the parking lot of the store he bought it at. Chambered a round. got home, dropped the mag and NEVER checked the chamber.
Damn lucky thats all that happened from that frik up.

I would like to add that his brother is a moron for bringing his 5-year-old daughter around when this darwin award runner-up is fooling with a hand gun.
