F150 Improvements

Have the made improvements to the F150's over the last several years? I have a 2004 F150, but just curious as to how the new ones may have addressed issues since my model. For example, mine is bad about having spark plugs break off. That year model was also bad about the engine making a ticking sound, which I believe is the cam phasers going bad. I'm not asking about the latest features, but mainly if there are any known issues for the last few year models (2010-2014).

both of those things are no longer an issue.
I've always been a Chevy man but would buy a Ford if I was buying new

I had an 03 and hated that truck........I now have an 09 and probably will never own another truck that's not an F150.
Yeah they improved a ton.

My wife and I both had 2011 F-150's, the 5.0...I sold mine due to having to travel so far for work and bought something better on gas. I like the trucks tho, quiet as hell, smooth ride and good amount of power. Havent had any trouble as of yet....the ecoboost is the only f-150 that i know had the problems.

Both of those issues have been fixed, I have an 06 and I can safely say frick those spark plugs. The newer 1/2 tons are pretty impressive. The only thing that hasn't been fixed is the price.

I had a f150 5.0 for a couple months it was a very flimsy truck in my opinion ended up trading it in for a tundra love it I know a lot of people like ford I didn't different strokes for different folks I recon know what I mean

Why did you hate the 03?I have one with 170k and no problems yet. Love this truck. No payment in the last 6 years. Would like to hit 250k if possible

Periods, commas, anything to make it more readable?

Oh it was reliable as shite.......I just thought the interior was poorly designed. It just wasn't comfortable to me.
I traded it for a Chevy........and it was a POS.
The 09 F150 is legit.

The 2015 F150s will be made with aluminum body panels. This translates to a 700# weight savings. They have not released the new numbers on the motors but there is lots of speculation.
6.2 is gone (RIP)
3.5 Ecoboost is going to be around 370/440
5.0 will see a small gain too.
2.7 Ecoboost will be comparable to the old 5.4 300/315 but will get the best MPG, by far.
The new headlights will be LED on the higher end models. The tailgate will now lock with the rest of the truck doors. The Fx4 model is now a package like on the Super Dutys.
With all the above improvements, I am not buying one, yet. I am waiting the anticipated twin turbo 5.0 and the 8 speed transmission that Ford and GM have been working on. The ZF 8 speed has been nothing but great for Ram and I hope that Ford gets it right too. Its useless to speculate about a 5.0 Ecoboost numbers but 480/520ish would be quite dandy.

I love the interior on the 2014 GM 1/2 tons. I believe that Ford will take back the top of the mountain next year though. I really wanted to switch but the 5.3 is far too weak and barely gets out of its own way. The 6.2 is a whole another story but too hard to find to test drive.

Man that gm 5.3 ain't that bad its got plenty power for most people there's a reason it's been around for long know what I mean

Great motor that is stupid reliable. It just feels underpowered compared to the gas burner that I drive now. This was even the improved 2014 5.3.

Ecoboost MPG is hardly better than the 5.0

Had an 04 with a ticking / knocking sound turned out to be "cam sensors?" had them replaced for $900 bucks fixed the issue.
I know have a 2010 FX4 and haven't had ANY issues yet. 60k miles

The Ecoboost is a lot better than the 5.0 if you don't have a heavy foot. I know cuz I have the Ecoboost and my brother has the 5.0.

I have a 2011 6.2 and I must say the power is great and no problems at 82k miles. I would love a 2014 z71 the interior is so nice and they ride great.
