I was standing beside my dad in a beaver swamp when he shot a wood duck handed me his gun and caught the dead bird before it hit the water. He did all of this without taking a step.

I've dodged 2 or 3 ducks and 1 goose & have had many land in the blind. Catching a tumbling duck is something you might want to reconsider. Good way to break a wrist.

Came close one a dove last week but turns out I'm lacking in the jumping ability these days.

In high-school I told my dad i was gonna drop a goose on him. He managed to roll out the way (laying in a dry field) or I would have succeeded.

I work with a guy who claims that he did this with duck. He has a few people that vouch for him that it actually happened.

Regardless, he claims it felt like catching a cinder block and that it knocked him to the ground and took his breath away.

I had the opportunity once a couple years ago during teal season but thought better of it and pulled my hand in and stepped aside.

I was hunting with a guy who caught a dove after he shot it. I've had a few ducks and geese land close enough to attempt a catch, but if you've ever been close enough to hear the impact of one falling, you'll think twice before trying to catch it. Broken wing bone protruding could do some serious damage in a catch.

Done it with a dove. Had chances on a duck before. Reconsidered at the last minute thankfully.

My old man is good for catching a dove in his hat about once every 2 or 3 dove seasons.

I've spent a whole day trying to do this. I Looked pretty stupid sprinting across the field after every shot.

I was literally less than a foot from accomplishing this on opening day of dove season this year. Getting towards the end of the day, standing around with a couple of guys chatting, and Had three flying directly over our heads kind of lazily about 75 feet up, and took a shot for fun, smoked him, and had a gust of wind not caught him 10 feet above me i would have snagged him right out of the air!

I've had to side step a falling wood duck before when I was trying to shoot at other ducks.

I've also had my Dad or Uncle shoot a wood duck that hit me when I was out wading in a beaver pond picking up the ducks we had already shot. Had a few words with them about shooting over my head.

Shot several ducks that landed near or in the blind but never caught one.
