Hunter W. Varnado, 20, was arrested Wednesday. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents, following up on a tip, eventually accused Varnado of resisting an officer, taking a deer during a closed season, hunting deer using illegal methods, hunting without a basic license, hunting without deer tags and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Agents said they found a high-powered rifle in Varnado’s home and that Varnado later admitted to deer hunting with the rifle in West Baton Rouge Parish.

While searching Varnado’s phone, agents found evidence of Varnado harvesting a doe in August with a 30-06 rifle and a six-point buck in September with a crossbow. Varnado was also found hunting with a high-powered rifle during the open archery season.

Being a felon in possession of a firearm should earn this guy serious time in Angola.

Then scratch their collective heads when one of these guys kills somebody or commits some other violent felony when they should be behind bars.

Ehh... sounds like a dumb kid at 20, don’t think this warrants Angola time. Now if he continues down this road that’s a different story.

He's a convicted felon. He's already played his "dumb kid" card.

Fixed it for you.

You must be going for the most downvotes.

If he had not been in trouble with the law already, that would be one thing.

I don’t know any 20yr olds that are already felons though.

Oops missed that part, yeah on second thought he could use some time to think about his mistakes.

He will barely spend any time in jail much less Angola. I had my house broken into a few months ago and had 10 guns stolen along with other things. One of the 3 guys was arrested and he was a felon with warrants. Charged with breaking and entering, possession of firearm by a felon and numerous other charges. He was released in 2 weeks. I saw the a-hole in his yard yesterday working on a 4 wheeler that was probably stolen.

An outlaw like this guy showed me a picture of a large buck he had just killed several years ago in August of that year. I told him it’s out of season. He said he had plenty of season on his kitchen table

You know where the thief lives? I think I might consider a terrorist campaign against him

Exactly this.

That 4 wheeler he was working on...

see what it would look like after shooting 3-5 lbs of tannerite that just happened to be sitting underneath it.

Tony Clayton is a pretty damn good DA. He doesn’t have a lot of patience for convicted felons. Especially lawless convicted felons. Should be interesting to see how he prosecutes this one.

If he's already a convicted felon, and if he's already killed multiple deer already w/o a license ---- he's been "continuing down this road" for quite a while.

Actually, felon in possession of a firearm is also a federal crime. BATFE (aka ATF - for Adopting The Felony...) might be visiting him in the near future...

Never talk to the cops without an attorney and never, I mean never, admit to nuttin'.

One of my buddies was a CWO in Army CID and later retired as a federal agent. He said never to talk to law enforcement without an attorney.

I had already deployed twice at 20. You’re not a kid at this age.

He sounds dumb, yes, but he’s not a kid.

This x1000. The “dumb kid” shite ends around 17. Or it should. He’s an adult. And stupid. But even if he was smart, he’s still likely a POS. So screw him. Lock him up.
