Need a federal duck stamp and need to be with a licensed hunter. I'm also not sure if you can get a license without having completed the hunters safety course.

Never heard of hunters field day, but you do need a hunters ed class and a federal duck stamp.

State duck stamp
Federal duck stamp
Small game hunting license
HIP- free
I did not know you could get a license without a hunter's safety.

You have to have a hunters ed card to get a la license. In addition to a la license you will need a federal duck stamp to hunt dicks.

There are ways to get a license without the hunters ed class, but I'm not too familiar with them.

Only for one year. I'll see if I can find a link.

If they won't sell you a duck stamp and license, I'd go anyway. The chances of getting stopped and checked are so minimal it is ridiculous. I wouldn't answer those HIP questions either. It's not their business what you killed last year or intend to kill this year. Go hunting and enjoy yourself, IMO. I'd much rather a fella go hunting without a license than lose his shite and start shooting folks in public. Maybe I'm just wired differently, who knows.

Who Is Required To Take The Hunter Education Course?

Act 149 of the 1984 Louisiana Legislature enacted a mandatory education requirement for anyone born on or after September 1, 1969. All hunters born on or after this date must successfully complete the course in order to hunt in the State of Louisiana. Some exemptions apply, see below.

EXCEPT a person who has not completed a hunter education course may be issued a license with the restriction that they are accompanied by, and under the direct supervision of a person who was born before Sept. 1, 1969, and has a valid hunting license or who is 18 years of age or older and has proof of successful completion of a hunter education course approved by the LDWF.

Walmarks/academy will not ask you for a Hunter safety card. Hunt with a person that has one and you'll be good.

Chances are less than 1% you'll be asked for the hs card if you have your license and are with in the confines of the law

Here's the correct answer to your question.
When you buy your licenses (small game, state duck, federal duck stamp, and hip) your license will say restricted because you have not fully completed your hunters safety program and you do not have a card yet. You can hunt with a restricted license only if you are accompanied by someone with a non restricted license or if you have your card on you which you obviously don't. So If hunting with a friend with an unrestricted license, you are good.
