For those with privelidge, do you leave your duck decoys out all season?

If so, do you switch up their positioning every once in while?

Throw aways that you arent worried about getting weathered by the sun?

Why would you pick them up after each hunt unless you are worried about someone stealing them?

When we had 4 rice field pits in the 90's and 2000's we would leave them out all year. As the season progressed we grabbed a few each hunt until by the end we were down to only 2-3 dozen. These days I use far less higher quality decoys and pick up after each hunt. No way I'm leaving full bodies out and texas rigs make putting 4-5 dozen decoys out real easy. No telling how many old cheap junk decoys I had go missing over the years. These new decoys are so much better yet so much more expensive.

My grandpa and them leave them out all year at our rice field. They just look so stale and old. I think I would rather have a few higher grade decoys and pick up / put out every hunt but im also not the 87 year old with the checkbook

Trying to decide if I want to leave them out all season at my little pond or pick up after each hunt. Its just a little pot hole that will have 6 gadwall and 6 wood duck decoys max. Im leaning toward picking up each hunt just so they are in new spots each time, and like you said the T rigs make hauling much easier.

With only dozen or so I'd pick up every hunt just to give spread a fresh look each hunt. The deer feeder throwing corn on edge of pond will take care of rest. Throw out some teal decoys so you have some size difference

We have to use ~500 total decoys so they stay out. We start bringing some in during the 2nd split to lower the number.

I'm assuming you are hunting a big rice field blind. We used to use about 150-200 on each of our rice field blinds back when that's what I hunted in S Arkansas, but I've been having success using 4-5 dozen in North Texas and smaller fields in Arkansas the last few years. Do you really think that many makes a difference? I hunted on Catahoula years ago with a guy that had 1200 out and we killed a lot of birds but there wasn't an inch of open water for them to land.

Used to, but since I'm a public land scrapper now I only carry about 12-16.

The last lease I was in, they left them out. I would hunt alone alot and go down the ditch 100 yards with 15 or 20 decent decoys and do much better than over the shitty spread they had.

I public land hunt now. Bought a dozen Banded Mallard Comp. decoys to try out. I have not floated them yet, but they should move with a mouse fart of a breeze.

Not sure we can classify painted 2 liter and Clorox jugs as decoys but I understand why you leave them out, like the other 50-11 thousand blinds out there.

No sir we don't put out any jugs, all dekes. 4 blinds 400 +/- per blind.

We used to leave a dozen cheap flambeaus in a pond behind the house. Don't really hunt there anymore due to lack of birds but I still would if I'd be hunting it.

I didn't touch my teal decoys all season, though that was barely 2 weeks. Picked them up Sunday night. Now, once I get the rest of my blinds built before duck season, I won't ever bring them in. I move them a lot though, but that's just because I don't have enough decoys for all my blinds, so I'll move them around depending on where I want to hunt.

Us either but we put only about 4 dozen per blind. Teal season we had about 50 out and we sucked them in compared to other people close to us.
