Sometimes I wonder if south Louisiana is even worth inhabiting if you don’t fish and/or hunt
There was some guy on here a while back who couldn’t believe Joe Brady would ever leave LSU for the NFL because in Louisiana he would have “all the free hunts he wanted” and he was actually being serious.

I try to fish every chance I get.

I don't hunt but I have relatives who do. If they didn't give me deer sausage I would probably start.

Grew up doing both hardcore even daily or whatever on a small scale (because grew up in the country). Now I walk trails and work in the woods more then specifically hunting. Mostly just shoot cottonmouths around the ponds. I’m not averse to hunting just out of routine, not in a club, etc. I fish moreso but still not crazy like many guys are. It’s still just fricking fish to me.

I'm the only hunter and fisher in my family. I learned everything on my own. I WISH I had grown up in a hunting family.

I grew up hunting duck, dove, rabbit, and squirrel. We were too poor to be part of a deer lease so I only hunted deer once, and didn't see a thing. Except a shite ton of rabbits and squirrels.
My dad was a school teacher so although we didn't have a lot of money, he had summers off and saved up enough for an aluminum bateau with a 20 horse Mercury that we carpeted nice and added pedestal seats for bass fishing. We would fish all summer long, on week days when we had the Atchafalaya Basin all to ourselves.
During college I got in to bike racing and that took over as my main hobby. I rode and raced pretty seriously for 25 years.
Then around 2019 I got the itch to be out on the water again. I did my research and bought a fishing kayak. Now I fish about 2-3 times a month or more. I'm close enough to the Texas coast to fish inland for reds and specs, and there's lots of ponds, lakes, and creeks for bass.
I also make 2 or 3 trips a year to some epic river for overnight fishing/camping trips.
This spring we are doing 3 days on the Buffalo National River and then 3 days on the South Llano or Guadalupe depending in water levels.
After holding my golden retriever in my arms as he died, I have no desire to hunt anymore. I have nothing against those who do, I just don't feel the urge to shoot animals anymore.
I still bust the frick out of clays with my over/under though.

Yes. Was just on Lake Erie Saturday for walleye. 18 nice fish, probably an average of four pounds.

Grew up duck hunting and fishing with my dad but never got as “ate up with it” as he and my cousins are. Now in my 30s I’ll hunt or fish with him once or twice a year and I’m good. No real desire to do it otherwise. It is nice to get out to a camp and get away from it all for a weekend. I couldn’t ever be an every weekend guy though, to much money and hassle. I think the majority of men use it as a way to have some time off from da wife lol

No longer hunt, but at one time I loved to hunt small game like rabbits, squirrels, ducks, dove, etc.
I have also killed a few feral hogs but have not deer hunted or any other big game like elk, moose, caribou.
I do love to fish and still do as often as the opportunity comes my way when friends invite me along who have boats to fish the marshes and lakes. I do more freshwater fishing from the banks than anything else, especially for catfish for the freezer.

I enjoy going to the camp and cooking and socializing. If I get in a deer stand, so be it.
I do also enjoy salt water fishing, so yeah, I guess.
I need to get out in nature some, and that is the best way to do so around here.

Both but thinking about giving up fishing.

If it weren't for hunting and fishing, I don't know what I would do with myself. Sacalait and bass in the basin jan - March. Catfish when the watee is high until July. Then back to sacs, bass and crabs until November. Then its time to be mad at the deer for a couple months. Add in a little crabbing late summer and call it a year.

My entire life- I’m 58. I tell everyone anyone can start anytime. We’ve all got an 8 year old boy or girl inside of us that we can let free and explore…

Deer or duck hunt every weekend of the season. Turkey hunt every weekend of the season. Hunt coyotes/pigs 1-2 nights a week year round.
Don’t fish as much anymore since moving from louisiana but still go 5-10 times a year.

Yes. I’m 58 also.
Fished and hunted since I could walk
Salt and freshwater. Hunt everything available.
Plant a lot for wildlife. I can’t imagine not doing it
