2003 2-stroke 90 with about 5 hours on an engine rebuild.
Cranked fine when got to lake. Cranked several times and ran fine.
Last attempt to crank, I heard the starter click and that was it. Dead as a doornail. Was thinking fuse, ignition switch, CDI, but the trim also stopped working both at the control and at the motor.
The battery is fine. I checked three fuses. One in the motor behind the electrical control connections which I tested and was okay and two fusible links near the ignition switch, a 10 amp and a much smaller one. Both the smaller ones looked okay.
Any ideas? Did I miss a fuse somewhere?

Very close, just not quite as well decorated.

And to answer your question, I don't have a clue, the pic was from a thread in the OT I just finished and then opened the OB and saw your title and thought to myself that someone else just read the same thread and twisted into a new topic, but was just coincidence

Check connection on your battery. Have someone turn the key to start while you fool with/twist battery post connections.
If it so much as tries to turn over, that's likely your problem.
I had the exact thing happen to me a couple weeks ago. No corrosion on battery/ connecters tight. But somehow lost connection

You sure the motor isn't locked up? The starter simply may not be able to spin the engine. See if you can turn it by hand. If you can then you're ok there. It could be several things. Starter, battery or solenoid.

I would bet one whole US dollar you have a ground issue, esp since more than one component stopped working.

I own a forklift that occasionally does the same thing.
I bought a battery post cleaner. It's a round tool with wire brushes built into it. Every once in a while it will just stop until you massage the battery posts with that tool... just like us.
Hope this is it for you. Good luck.

Sounds about right.

It's your battery connection.

Check voltage at your starter. Watch voltage as you try to start it.
