He is convinced my 30yrd old club doesn't exist and my land owner is fictional. He will be disappointed when the gate is never closed again.
He's also convinced he has a say so in the land the gate is on which is false and he doesn't understand right of ways
Wow. Unfortunately it sounds like he has some screws loose. Hopefully this process has made him see the light...otherwise he won't go away.
Glad you're back on the property. Looks like a pretty place.
In the past five years, we've lost half of our lease because the owner sold it without telling us. The he decided to clear cut the half we have left (it was 20 ft tall twigs, so he didn't make no money from it anyway). Now he lets 20 head a cattle roam our remaining 400 acres during the season (they love deer corn).
I say that to say...it sucks anytime someone affects your deer lease. Major sucks

Do you need a hunting license to shoot a cow? LOL

Got a call from the land owner as I was walking into the game last night that the gate was completely taken down by the gate builder.
Apparently it was done without any more convincing from us. I guess he realized we had him dead to rights and weren't going to play his game. I'm going to go verify all this today.

While this has been an entertaining thread, I've learned a lot about property disputes and how to handle these situations with the best possible outcome.

ill add it shortly
I went to the lease again Sunday evening. The gate is 100% gone and i havent heard another word about it. Did some scouting and found some heavily used trails that run straight into my shooting lanes so i set up cameras. Ran into a lease member and he was pretty happy to get back there.

As of yesterday, all cameras but one old camera are only accessible by wearing hip boots.

Yall won't believe this SOB. There is an OLD gate further down the levee for a nearby land owner/resident. This gate was never closed in at least 5 years and when it was closed it was for cattle and all people who needed to pass had a key including my club.
I went back there today to this gate being locked but with a brand new pad lock. I went to the land owner and he said he didn't lock it and it must have been the same guy who built the other gate. He gave me permission to do what I need to get this gate down since it is designed sonthat the lock cant be cut with bolt cutters (the lock is in a metal collar)
I have the same officer from before go see if the guy will admit to putting the lock up. If so he will be arrested since the gate is on someone else's property.
If that doesn't work and he won't remove it then I will be there Sunday with a grinder to cut the metal collar off, cut the lock then lock it in the open position. myself and the owner will be the only two with a key

What a pain the butt! Is it one of those disc pad locks?
Posted on 11/4/16 at 8:52 pm to AubieALUMdvm
This dude is just fricking with us now. He's lost his damn mind
No, the lock is a normal master lock but the gate has a steel rod that inserts into the steel collar on a post. The lock is on the rod in the collar.
I'm going to cut a window in the collar to cut the lock.

You'd be surprised how weak master locks really are.
You can break them super easily, they really don't protect anything at all. You can google all the ways to break them. It's pretty eye opening.

I though abkut prying it open but then he could put another one up and I'm stuck doing this at 4am going hunt. I'll cut the gate off the hinges before this goes any further
