Mike Williams. Lives about an hour NE of Dallas. Shaved head. Goatee. Wife is Felicia. Daughter is Sidney. Loves to bowhunt hogs. Used to be a commercial fisherman on the Cape Fear River in North Carolina.

Played by Mark Wahlberg in the movie. I've got some photos on my phone he texted me from the set of the movie. He was a technical advisor. He was on set every day of the shooting in Chalmette.

I think we all already knew that but he parlayed it into statewide elected office.

Do Amy of those Candy Fleet boats service those platforms?

Nah, the dude (if it's the guy I'm thinking of) is a known bullshitter. Maybe it wasn't wahlberg's character, we talked about this a while ago. Many people on here have said the same story

Yea i heard that williams guy got his arse off fast as he could, now makes up lies to make money off this tragedy. Ironic if marky mark plays his character, because thats all he does in hollywood is cash in off of tragedies

That's why there are so many Vietnamese, and Chinese owned shrimp boats in the gulf now.

What? No. Shrimping doesn't pay shite and there's always been a lot of Vietnamese trawlers. They're annoying AF too because they never answer their radio.
uncle got paid a shite load of money to take a scientist out every day to take a water sample from Timbilair bay on his shrimp boat too.

The DH disaster remains to this day the most intensive and exhaustingly investigated industrial accident in the history of the world.

Mike's story was taken from the report made by the bipartisan congressional committee, to the President of the United States. It has nothing to do with "making up lies to make money." Did the producers take liberties with the facts in order to make a movie? Of course. But that doesn't impinge Mike's credibility, his story, or his actions that night. He did his job, and he was one of the last people off that rig. Then he told his story to Congress, the NY Times, 60 Minutes, and Participant Media. At no time did his story ever change, or get called into question by the testimony of others.

You just don't know what you're talking about.

That report definitely had some leanings.

Haven't seen the movie yet but have heard mix things from fellow industry guys. Considering I worked strictly in DW and spent ample time in the shack and on the floor I will probably nit pick it.

I am not sure about the Dixie boats but the Robert was started in 2010 and the Jill in 2012.

I am not convinced yet. Yeah, lots of stuff on the BOP was done wrong, but it accidentally tried to work and still failed.

the pipe buckling and not allowing the shear to work was a key factor as well to it being wired wrong and batteries being dead.

the video is long but worth the watch.

It could have.

Ill say what most people wont. Had the some of the men that lost their lives (Rip) had been more aware of their surroundings, in particular the driller, mud eng, and man working the pits, it could have been avoided. Pressure and/or complacency can get to us and happen to the best of us.

I am asking out of ignorance-what could have been done? I only ask because the blind shear ram activated and it still happened.

Did they also really hit a bird on the way out to the rig that day?
