i've been seeing shitty reviews online about people sending their Costas in for repair and being denied warranty repair because the manufactured claims" neglect"
For broken parts, glass popping out ETC.
I was under the assumption when you bought Costas that it was a no questions asked repair for anything but running over them with your truck.
Where did I get this idea from?
Anyone else have any issues with warranty repair lately on their Costas?
I'm about to shell out the dough today and hear Maui has excellent warranty.

I've sent Costas back 3 times.

Broken Frame - fixed
Worn off rubber by the ear - fixed
Broken lens (my fault) - I had to pay

Im getting ready to send them some glasses because the frame is stretched out. Ive done it before and they charged me $50. Its still a good deal IMO, I cant wear them like they are an $50 is better than $200.

thats because people who have good experiences rarely post reviews

there is a line, but they are fairly lenient about it. if they see them beat to hell or obvious neglect and abuse, they arent going to cover.

I have the same problem with the frames stretching out, they fall off my face when I lean over now. I read or saw a video on nola.com that you can take a hair dryer and warm them up and re-mold them. However, I have not tried it yet.

I had a pair of Ballast that the lens started cracking at the screw. I kept wearing them and they finally borke, sent them in and they wouldn't cover them. I should have sent them in before they completely broke, lesson learned. All other claims have been repaired for like $16.00 and some change. Between the wife and I we have like 7 pairs, love us some Costas...

I sent a pair back last year because the paint was coming off the arms where you attach grabbers. Also, one of my lenses moved around a bit an I thought it may fall out at some point. Not sure if they replaced the frame with a new one but everything came back good as new and all I paid was shipping.

I love costas but as I have posted before the warranty depends on who you speak to when you call them. They have been horrible on warranties sometimes

the paint is coming off of my arms and they have lost their shape and no longer hold to my face as others have said

i've sent the same pair in for the same issue and they repaired it for shipping only

i've heard people say they will ship you the arms to replace yourself

is this possible?

Same here. I shattered my 580 lens and had to pay $100 for repair. The rubber on the frame was starting to peel again so I ended up with new frame and lens for $100. Not bad

That's cheap. I just haven't found a pair of MJ that fit me as good as my costas (fisch).

All of MJs lenses are polycarbonate or at least they used to be

They are very light but not quite as scratch resistant as glass

they had a problem several years ago with the rubber falling apart because of reacting with sunscreen. they fixed my first pair (420 lenses) via warranty. i won a pair with 580 lenses that had the same problem after a while and they claimed it was normal wear and tear and not sunscreen. this is BS:
- they either haven't changed the rubber to something that holds up to sunscreen
- they got too many claims on this and are starting to crawfish on warranty work (assholes)

All I know is C&M Marina in Lafitte, has the best prices anywhere on Costa.
