Cost of Firewood

I was quoted a price of $125 for a half cord, not delivered. Seems a bit high but then again, I've never had to buy any before so I don't know. My source finally ran dry and I'm to lazy right now to split any myself. I would think $85 or so would be fair.

Frick, I cut firewood up in Norf LA just to get money for hunting stuff and beer and we charged $60 a half cord and $110 a cord. '
If these are the prices now, I may have to go get the Stihl out of the garage.

Check with Downshift. He has lots to sell but I'm not sure of his price this year. I paid $100 for a truckload from him last year.

I paid 100 bucks for a truckload in Central City last year. Guy is on Greenwell Springs road.

What the heck is a rick?
Half a cord. Usually a regular Chevy truck bed full, not a Toyota truck bed or a Dodge full size bed. Or a regular 4 wheeler trailer load.

A rick (or face cord) is 4x8x1 log deep. It's usually between a 1/4 cord or half cord depending on log length.

A full cord of wood fills the space 4'x4'x8' or 128 cubic feet.
A rick of wood is 4 feet tall and 8 feet long and is as wide as the length of the individual piece of fire wood typically 16 inches. So it is about 1/3 of a full cord of wood.

Will a Dodge haul a load of firewood without losing the transmission?

Mine did. I have a cooler though.

Frick yes, a Cummins will haul that shiz in reverse. Notice I didn't say a Ford with a EcoBoost though.

So it looks like $125 might be close for a half cord? Cool.

paid 75.00 last year for a half-cord (rick)

That pic does not prove that the transmission isn't shot and the truck is broke down right there.
