Grand isle for me. Much better for a family spot as everyone has said. You have the beach, a snowball stand, golf carts riding everywhere, various restaurants and bars and just a cool vibe to me. Plus great fishing. They both have great fishing but cocodrie doesn't have as much extra things to do like grand isle. And a lot of good road side, surf, and bridge fishing as well, so even if you don't have a boat you can catch fish/crabs. Much closer to offshore fishing and still not far at all to good marsh fishing. That may be biggest drawback is not as much accessible marsh close by but it's not all that far away either.

But if you don't have a family that would ever want to go, and you need to be fishing in the marsh in less than a 5 minute boat ride than maybe cocodrie is a better option.

Also, I feel like it would be easier to rent out your camp in GI... that's if you're looking for a little bit of economic income.

We used to have a camp in the marsh in Cocodrie. Favorite place in the world.

agree with everything you said, but

quote:

(Knock on wood) I've never even heard of anyone having anything stolen in Cocodrie, except for once, and they went to jail for 10+ years.

about 7 years back our neighbor had purchased a brand new aluminum bateau with a 25hp engine to fish the local marsh and bring his grandkids on, etc.
the week he purchased and brought it down it was up on a boat lift, probably 10 feet off the water (he jacked it up way high). Guys went during the week, cut the engine off the boat, and drove off with it. it had rained and the ruts they made were probably 2 feet deep from a dually.
now this is up closer to sportsman paradise, and closer to Chauvin. imagine crime isn't as bad down the island in Cocodrie. but moral of the story is your shite can get stolen.

but only thing we've had stolen is probably live shrimp sitting in a cage by the dock. but that was probably our neighbor during the week or something.

For those that know, what is the best place to look for camps for sale. In the market for camp in Cocodrie, but I don't really have a good idea how much it's gonna cost

Same question but for Dulac
