Really depends on what you like to do. Grand Isle has better activities while Cocodrie has better fishing.

ETA: not saying GI inshore fishing is bad, but it's not a year around place IMO. When it's good it's really good though

I agree. What are you looking to get out of your camp?

GI if you have family. Cocodrie if it's just a "fishing" camp

I'd go Grand Isle. Some of the best fishing I've had in my life was out of GI and Fourchon. I'd love to have a camp there but it's just not in my finances right now, but one day.

Your $$ will go further in Cocodrie and the inshore fishing us better. Much longer run to get to to reef fish from Cocodrie. Toss up.

If money isn't an issue and you like offshore fishing more, GI.

If money is an issue or your prefer inshore.... Cocodrie.

we have a camp in Cocodrie. Technically it's Chauvin, close to Sportsman Paradise. we are inside the levee they built, on the water, and right by one of the locks to get out. love it, my favorite place in the world to be. my wife also loves it, and our 2 year old managed 3 hours on the boat last weekend without a single complaint.

there are multiple live bait options. a lot of easy fishing, just get to know the area because you WILL GET STUCK IF YOU DON'T.

Cocodrie has a few restaurant options.
it's close to Chauvin which has a pizza place and a piggly wiggly.
and Houma isn't that far and they have everything.

we've discussed moving over to GI for the kids, they have a beach, and Artie's. but i love our camp in Cocodrie.

If you just want to fish and have boat slip at the camp pick Cocodrie.

If you want to be able to go to the beach, take walks/bike rides, have a few small restaurants to eat at, take kids to playground and don't care if you have a boat slip then go Grand isle. You can get a place with a boat slip but your money probably goes further in Cocodrie

I love my place on Grand Isle! Fishing is great but I love that when its windy or wet there's plenty friends on the island and we just boil crabs or fry fish/shrimp and chillax! But having plenty activity & people can be a bummer, fishing on Saturdays in the summer in Grand Isle is treacherous!!!

GI for sure. You can go to great fishing without even having a boat. must have a boat in Cocodrie.

Never fished out of Cocodrie but always had camp on Grand Isle. Nice for the family and easy access to offshore. it seems like 3/4 of the camps are for sale but the prices are unbelievable
