Yeah. Tide is poop. My money would be to post up by the bank on the point below and throw in the middle mostly with a cork for specks. There is always a ton of specks right there. Just small.

I'll give y'all one more. If you can paddle this far. Go to thesecrocks in the ship channel. Anchor about 10 ft off the rocks in the ship channel side, right on the current break, drop straight down, its about 5-6 ft,make sure the bottom is still rocky. with a Carolina rig with a nice size weight and a smaller hook with a peeled piece of shrimp. More big sheephead than you will know what to do with. Drum and reds frequent here as well.
Here is what 30 minutes and 2 pounds of shrimp got us on a shitty day.

Tide will still be moving and your success doesn't completely rely on it. Believe it or not, fish still have to eat regardless of tidal range. You

Tide in Cocodrie is completely different depending on if you are inside or outside of the levee system. If you go to the end of the road and launch near the Coco Marina, you can follow tide charts. If you stay further up and fish off the right side of the road, there is a lag as all the water has to get out of the locks.
I know someone who used to put in around the Boudreaux Canal bridge. There is an area to park if you pull off to the right of the bridge and follow the shell road all the way to the levee. If you take Boudreaux Canal into the lake, there is a good chance you can find some specks this time of year. If you get into the marsh on the Northeast side of the lake, there are some monster mullet fed reds in there. One of my favorite places to take my flats boat. Black water with big orange pumpkins floating in the grass. Get some weedless baits like a jerk shad on a bass hook and hit up the edge of grass lines. If you can stand, you can usually see them pretty well in that area as the water is cleaner there (usually).

When I had my yak, I was always pretty close to a flood gate, but never trusted that I would be able to get through it at any given point. There are certain times of the day that it would be physically impossible to paddle through due to the tide roaring out. And it's way to difficult to predict when it's going to be doing what.
