A lot of the 07-09 trucks on the road have over 100k miles on them.

They're old and still running. I doubt there would be that many still out there if people were having to spend plenty money fixing them.

I was going to buy a used 6.7(2011-2013)...a friend of mine at a Ford stealership advised me to steer clear...longevity is turning out to be not so good...

couple that with the de-laminating fuel tanks(that Ford won't cover) tearing up the fuel system and you've got a recipe for disaster in those model years...

I hope the newer 6.7's have it solved, but $60k to take a chance is not my kinda chance.

I really didn't want to buy GM just because of "Government Motors" but it looks like I may have to...I guess I'll be looking for a used LMM(2007.5 - 2010)GMC...too bad the 2011 Denali comes equipped with the LML and urea injection.

all this new EPA crap has drove the mrket sky high on the newer used DMax's

Dang, that sucks.

I really like this truck. Very quiet.

every 5.3l motor between 2005-2008 in every GM manufactured truck had lifter, camshaft issues that GM knew about and refused to do anything about any of them. The fricking cylinder heads had to come off the goddamn motor to access the lifters. Camshaft lobes were rubbing clean the frick off.

This I know someone who had this problem.

I had it (had to have a complete rebuild and even have the block sent back to Chevy for new cam bearings), first cousin had it, and a very good friend is dealing with it now. He was just a couple months out of warranty so he is going with some work around they have for it.
Still have mine (an employee drives it) and it worked out well bc I basically got a new motor at 80k miles and it has been flawless for the next 60k so maybe it will last a while.

yeah, when my 6.7 imploded the tech told me it was the first one he had seen. Was very reassuring with regards to him changing the motor! Therefore, I got a new truck and let them keep that pos. This one is less than reliable. I won't keep it past warranty

Damn, that sucks. They all have lemons and I'm sure they aren't bullet proof either just a vast improvement. I had heard about the bearings in the turbo which they are changing on 2015's but nothing else to note.

I wonder if failed turbo bearings were due to bad regen strategies?

Not familiar. I first learned about it in that video you posted with the powerstroke guru guy comparing the 6.7 to the 6.0 and 6.4. That was a great video.

Does the 6.7 require you to take the cab off to change the blinker fluid like the 6.4?

Turbo bearings don't like it when you shut down during a regen or when a regen starts before it's at operating temperature.

The turbine housing gets ignorantly hot during regeneration and shutting down with it that hot will heat soak the bearing. Every diesel manufacturer as far as I know has had turbo issues due to regeneration and heat soaking.

I'm told no, I dont want to find out if they were telling the truth.

Well in the video you posted it said they went to ceramic (which are the best friction wise) and they are getting too hot so sounds like thats it. Not positive though just putting two and two together.
