I'm on my second 6.7. First one blew up at 28k miles. This one has been in the shop three times in the 17k miles of it's life. Never again. Give me my Duramax/Allison back.

It's not trolling if it's true.

Inb4 clames comes back with some obscure GM issue with lifters being .00004 out of spec and generating a harmonic disturbance at 2392.6 RPM in engines with serial numbers starting with D.

Ive got a 6.0 2006 Its been no trouble YET. I did put a coolant bypass filter on it and its only got 68K miles on it.

It is disheartening to spend that much money and get that lack of quality. At the very least i would say my truck, for being a diesel, must be pampered with all fluids and filters being constantly changed and kept clean. NOT what you would expect from a diesel.

When Tundras come with a cummins Ford truck sales will drastically drop.

That is not changing with any motor.

Every diesel from here on out is going to be very picky about fluids.

Damn, thats the first I heard of the 6.7 popping. What year and what have been your issues?

Downshift, you arent very versed on GM's 2007 and 2008 5.3's are you. They still try to deny issues and the official stance was that it was normal to use a quart of oil every 2000 miles. Mind you that the truck was rated to go 10k between changes (even though I would only go 5) so that's 5 qts between changes.

Doesn't look any different than any Ford I see on the side of the road.

Meh. Two years of motors burning extra oil (which I personally haven't heard of anybody I know having that problem)

You could build a mountain with the hundred dollar bills spent repairing ford 6.0s and 6.4s

EVERYBODY knows somebody who has had a ford diesel crap out on them early in life.

ETA and ford still sold it, and people still bought it.

Agree. Have a 7.3 and 5.9 that have not been maintained at all and are coming up on 300k each. The EPA crap has about ruined them all.

I have a friend of mine who's a diesel tech at one of the Ford dealers here in Lafayette that was telling me the other day since the 6.7 has came out they've seen around 20 cases of major engine failures. The early 11's had issues dropping valves and 4 or 5 that had the rod put a hole in the bottom end. So 20 failures out of probably several thousand sold I'd imagine? I still don't want to be one of those statistics.

I'll never have another diesel out of warranty no matter what brand it is, they're just too expensive to work on.

extended warranty is 100k, that's about what I'd keep a vehicle for anyway

I love my 6.7, and I haven't had any issued with it yet anyway. I don't need a diesel as much as I did 3-4 years ago when I was pulling a trailer damn near every weekend, so at times I wonder if I wouldn't have been better off just buying an OBS 7.3 and fixing it up. Truthfully they have all the power I really would need, get better milage than any model diesel available(except maybe the 6.7 Cummins), and are fairly reliable.
