get a 9mm in each. both are fine guns

if i were buying two guns to stay in my house, I'd go with the full size M&P9 and an HK VP9

Agreed, only I'd get a glock 17 and 19 so I could swap mags.

Sell the 15 round mags and run 17s with +2s and a few 33s for comic relief.

She should get an HK P30sk.

We will go shoot several this week. We will get 9mm in both, too.

It's all about feel for her. We handled several and we are down to a handful. The leaders in the clubhouse are the M&P and the Sig.

Why not get the same gun so the person could learn how to use the one and then know how to ise the other?

I recently went with the wife and bought the Springdfield XD 4" 9mm (my first pistol). It was her first time ever shooting a gun and she did great. I'm looking to get my LTC here in Texas soon and will probably get a compact, either S&W or Glock.

I have the LCR for quick access and ease of use.

..or just learn how to shoot both efficiently?

It won't be difficult to master both. People have personal preferences, though.

Need to shoot an LEM P30sk before you buy. Or just go shoot all the guns, buy the best one and the HK. Go shoot those teo and argue over who gets the sk.

I'd rethink that. Very few people spend the time it takes to master even one, much less two or three.

p.s. It shouldn't be "about feel." It should be about reliability. Period. The two on your short list are reliable, but nothing matches a 9mm Glock (G19 or G17) in that regard.

Two excellent choices! But I have a question.

Do you plan on carrying these or are they strictly to stay home? If they are only for the house I see no reason not to get the full sized versions of each. You'll get a larger mag and the extra weight will make them easier to shoot.

If you plan on carrying them, know they are a bit thick but can still be carried comfortably in the waistband. I carry an M&P9c and love it. I can't even remember the last time it malfunctioned.

But if you want a really thin concealed gun I'd recommend the Shield. Then again, if you want them to possibly use at home too, the full sized mags will fit in the compact versions.

EDIT: Forgot to say I agree with others on the cartridge - go with 9mm.

We aren't buying Taurus', bro.. S&W and Sig are reliable manufacturers.

Not interested in a Glock right now.

I think that's what I said. Not sure how Taurus entered the discussion.

I have a Sig 226 and 228.....love them both.

the 228 is a bad little gun....not CC little but small enough for my bigfoot hands.

I would try to talk her into the sig in the sub size to consolidate on mags. I don't mind the mps but the p320 trigger is light years better.

A friend handed me his H&K P2000sk today. He's selling it and we will shoot it tomorrow at Precision.

Comments on the H&K?
