Check your nocks

Put my new sight on my brand new Mathews no cam and grabbed my old arrows to get it close to the target and one of the nocks was cracked. Drew back and i guess the arrow fell off as soon as I pulled the trigger. Ended up dry firing my bow. This little piece on both cams cracked. I'm not sure what kind of damage I did hopefully won't cost to much money. Sick to my stomach but glad I didn't get hurt. I swear if I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck at all

First thing I do before I shoot my bow is inspect and flex test my arrows. I am scared shitless of dry firing and ruining the bow or my arms.

At what point to you call an arrow bad? I use carbon arrows and have a couple that have little hairline fractures near the tips from pullng them out of trees and wood fences from squirrel target practice. Am I pushig my luck?

Carbon arrows arent supposed to fracture like graphite but I wouldnt take any chances. A visible crack is bad. Arrows arent that expensive to be using damaged ones.

Do not use any splintered arrows. The last thing you want is an arrow to have a split when the bow transfers all of its energy. Splintered arrows can fragment and stick you. Always flex an arrow before use. If it splinters, throw it away.

Yes, flex and inspect your carbon arrows before use. If you can hear or see any cracks dispose. Lucky your arrow didn't fall low enough to shoot threw your grip hand.

That Sucks
But that is one hell of a bow. I am considering up grading to it. I hate when you don't need a bow but they talk you in to trying one out and you fall in love.
