Are there any good places to go camping within an hour drive of Baton Rouge? Looking for hiking trails and a place to do a little fishing.

Had an acquaintance that was robbed and murdered by a pimp at the M6 on Siegen and I-10. One of Folsom's finest, may he rest in peace.

I asked a similar question a while back.

Percy Quinn State park in Mississippi is not very far. I have not been since I was a teenager, but have fond memories and have heard the trails are nice and the campground clean.

Same with me. I'm probably going to make a trip this fall for nostalgia.

Nice thread. When I get a free weekend I want to head out to the woods also.

Lake is drained currently. The dam on the lake is the one that almost failed during Isaac. The 300 acre lake now covers only 70 acres (none left near the bank/ pier areas) and dropping daily as they are still pumping it down.

Local news showed footage of it 2 days ago. Not a fishing option anytime soon.

Didn't think camping was an option here. Great hiking. Going Saturday, hope its cool enough to keep the rattlers away.
