I'm in the same predicament as you super, I need a shed but live in da hood so I cant get an actual one.
I was thinking about just grabbing a vinyl on from HD or Lowes for about 7-900.
Few bags of concrete for the slab and all set...at least thats the plan.

Built an 8x8 similar to the pre-fab ones at home depot and lowes. Spent 700. But I built it much sturdier than they did. Plus had treated plywood floor not the OSB stuff they had. Plus it was a fun project.

My HOA has the same requirements. We are supposed to go thru an architectural committee yada yada yada bullshite. However, our covenants have no fines or penalties at this point. Subdivision is less then 5 years old. So I said F it and built me a shed with wood and a tin roof. GOt a nasty letter to attend the next HOA meeting. Showed up and had the President attempt to make an example of me. I politely asked what was the fine or penalty and please show me in the covenants where it is spelled out. He couldn't and then went on a tirade how we need to address having penalites. F HOAs. Im moving soon as I find 10 acres somewhere I like.

Here's a buch of shed drawings and other shite to build that I've accumulated.

Go ahead and download what you want. I'll probably take it down in a couple days to save on my DropBox space.

quote:Bull crap. I just built a 12X16 on a slab, 2X4 construction, double door on the front, one window, 16" centers on the walls and 24" on the rafters, including siding. Material cost, including concrete (3 yds) was $1289. I had the roofing shingles already, but it was only 2 squares. Add about $300 MAX for that.
You'll spend that much in materials

You should be able to build a nice 10x10 for way under $2800. I built a 16x12 for under 1K.

quote:Exactly. If I hadn't gone concrete slab, I'd be under $1000 as well.

Yeah, I should have clarified a bit. Didn't do a slab, built mine on blocks to get it off the ground, but used 3/4 plywood for the floor, 2x4's for the walls and T1-11 for walls.
I think I spent around $900 total, and built my own doors too, which probably saved me some money.

Can you post pics/plans?

I drew the plan myself. It's a pretty simple plan though. Just a 12 (wide) x 16 (deep) shed, gable roof with 4/12 pitch, 8' ceiling height, one double door on the front and a window on the rear. T-111 siding. Door is centered on the front. Window centered on the rear. Got my lumber from a lumber yard, not a box store. Price does not include electric or plumbing, although electric is coming soon. Plumbing will be relegated to a hose pipe lol.

How did you do gable? Birdsmouth with open ceiling?
Posted on 5/9/14 at 11:54 pm to AutoYes_Clown
I have no clue what birdsmouth is, but yes, open ceiling. My dad and I built trusses. He's the expert and had all the tools/equipment, I just did what he told me to do lol.
