Who is going to protect that from 10 armed guys? You can't just show them your deed.

How many people do you think can survive on 100 acres? Property lines would be irrelevant.

What I don't understand is, do you guys not think that every single person is going to have the EXACT same idea? You will probably end up dealing with more BS than if you just stayed home and waited it out. People talk about wildlife in the woods, and living off the land, but if even 100k people leave BR and head to the basin, their won't be a fish, deer, bear, squirrel left in about a month. So really, why the plans to bug out?

Trespassers won't be treated with much respect in the scenario you are talking about.

But you're right public land will be a free for all and i suspect a killing ground early on.

This is the reality of a SHTF situation.

This is what the world would be facing. From that link:

There were many gangs 10 15 men strong, some as large as 50 men. But where were also many normal men, like you and me, fathers and grandfathers, who killed and robbed. There were no “good” and “bad” men. Most were in the middle and ready for the worst.

Op alter slinging shite saying everyone just gonna roll over and take it. Not saying it would be easy but I have my own land and in that scenario I’d be building traps and rigging any foreseen entry paths with obstacles. I’m prepared to kill to defend what’s mine and protect my family. I’ve given much thought to these scenarios as of late.

You need to get out more.

Take basic precautions and pray to God that such a scenario never happens.

It will turn good men into murderers. Desperate people will be looking everywhere. There would be no escape. Everyone's "secret" place has a road that leads to it. There would be no escaping the hell that would be created if the electricity went out.

People talk about their piece of land. Your piece of land that supports you shooting two deer a year off it for fun isn't going to support your family living there 365 days a year.

OP doesn’t own land and/or guns.

Good luck OP. Better hope a bug out boy saves you.

If it got bad enough I have enough guns, ammo, family and friends to fend off 100 armed attackers.

IP has a 25K acre piece of property right across from mine. If SHTF don't think they are going to worried about that piece of property. It's a rural as it can get. Hope it never comes to it but would be my go to place if it did.

Not an alter. I found this site 5 years ago and didn't make an account until 2 years ago.

Cool. You got to sleep sometimes. All that land you plan on hiding out on, is more than big enough for someone to hide and scout you.

And yes. A truly post apocalyptic world is something I'd rather have no part in.

Correct on one point. I don't own land. And I don't need to. When the 4 Million people of Louisiana all have the same idea about heading out to the boondocks, that 20 acres in Mississippi will be crawling with people trying to scavenge.

lol @ 20 acres.

Thats why you need the firepower to get there. Dont worry about the pallet of water and MRE's, batteries etc. I'd try to move fast and heavily armed.

Seems like a good bug out kit could just include 4wd and an AR-15 wtih more than 6 mags

Poor baby you assume people are going it alone. I know my neighbors and we would band together also we have a hell of allot more than 20 acres.

This is key. Strength in numbers (of capable people) would be paramount.

I think everyone should read one second after. I think the time line to collapse is pretty rushed but it give a pretty vivid and accurate imo depiction of conditions following the breakdown of services and society itself.

Are your neighbors family? What's to say they don't take what is yours so their family survives. Are they willing to live in the same place as you so that you can actually sleep at night while someone else stands watch? If it comes down to feeding their child, what choice will they make?

How are you going to do for heat once the propane runs out? Are you cutting down trees by hand?

Everyone feels like they are unique in their plans on survival and they alone have the fortitude and skills to fend off the hordes of unprepared "less than"s. They alone have neighbors that would never turn on them to feed their own family. They look at neighboring property as areas to hunt and gather but think no one looks at theirs the same.

Even rural areas rely upon regular deliveries to their local Dollar General/Walmart. The days of all rural families having a garden are over. People talk of heirloom seeds, but what good are those if you lack the skills and tools to garden? Do you have a plow horse? How will you feed it? Do you know how to work one? What if there is a late freeze with no warning. What if there is a drought like last year?

If things truly SHTF, no one is this country is truly prepared for it. It will be brutal, not only in interaction with others, but just the mundane back breaking dangerous labor that will be involved in day to day survival.

It won't be someone's Rambo fantasy.
