Would you consider a 25 cal. Browning pistol a reliable close range protection pistol? I have one that is near 50 years old. Perfect condition.

.25 caliber isn't known for it's reliability, plus .25 would not be a good round for self defense even if it were reliable.

An old buddy of mine has one. A beretta. Has never malfunctioned and he uses it as a backup pocket gun. If you're up close you could do some quick damage, at least enough to slow someone down and get away.

Better than carrying nothing.

Something to consider: If you are involved in a shooting your gun will get confiscated for an undetermined amount of time.

If it functions well, it will do some damage up close but should make enough noise to get the attention of the target.

1. Would I ??? No way.

2. Should you ?? Depends on how well you can shoot when somebody is trying to cut your throat.

3. If you let somebody get that close to you, and if that person is intent on killing you (or causing you great bodily harm), you're gonna be in a world of hurt.

4. There are at least (literally) 100 better choices for a SD weapon than a .25 caliber handgun.
