I'd love to stud my Boykin male. Great temperament and long legs for a Boykin. Bigger one too (39-40 lbs). All around fantastic dog (though I'm extremely biased ).

One of the guys on my lease got his Boykin from a breeder in MS, not exactly sure where though. I know he singled that one out as supposedly one of the better breeders though and drove over from Dallas to get the dog.

Sorry for the 6 month bump for my 1st post, but highcotton I think we may have littermates. I went last weekend and picked up a Boykin in Hunstville that originally came from Dr Able. Mine was whelped on 6/25/16. If you see this, email me at woodbirdtd@gmail.com.

First time to try and post pictures so bear with me if this doesn't work. His papers have the breeder listed as Drew Able. Looking at highcotton's post and what I've found online it looks like there is a vet in Huntsville that breeds them named Gregg Able. I would assume there's some close relation? Believe it or not, I got him for free on Craigslist. The guy that previously owned him didn't hunt and he was too much to handle and was just looking to get him to a good home and someone who would work with him.

One thing I will say about Boykins, the half breed I have is WIDE open 100% of the time. I had labs all my life, different breeds, but this dam Boykin/Lab is WIDE open and very smart. Problem, his is always under my feet no matter were I go, even the shitter.

My Boykin came from Anderson Kennels as well. Hallsville,Texas. Great breeder and guy. My female is now 3 and is the best retriever and pet I've ever had. Can't say enough good things about Anderson and the Boykin breed!

Yes your dog and mine are indeed litter mates. Hope he has turned into a fine companion for you. Mine has been wonderful. He is lying at my feet as I type this.

Someone asked about shedding I will say I have not noticed a problem with that. Now the Bermuda grass in the winter is another story.

He is all about some fishing though.

Damn, been toying with the idea of getting a Boykin. Wish I could find a free one on Craigslist like you did.

Man I love me a boykin. My 5 y/o girl, Bijou, is about the best dog you could hope for. Everyone who meets her says she has the most personality of any dog they've ever met. And she is a killing and retrieving machine. She's killed opossums, cats, birds, squirrels, and I'm sure many other things I never found.

I've been curious if anyone has updates on those Labkins from a few years ago. I bet they are beautiful adult dogs.

Fish, it's hilarious you talk about yours following you in the shitter. My new pup, curled herself into my pants on my ankles until she was too big to fit. Now she about tries to help me wipe unless it's a real doozy, then she pouts and GTFO...
