Can you guys recommend a good shooting, accurate bolt action rifle in .223 or .22-250? I'm planning to dump my mini-14 for something more accurate.

2 very different rounds
I would go with a savage 22-250 out of the 2. But the 223 will have cheaper ammo you can buy in bulk if that is important.

Something different than you asked, is a 204. By far my favorite rifle in the safe. Super hot round, and you can watch impact shots through the scope because of lack of recoil. Like it 10x more than 223 r 22-250

.17 too small for what you want? I just bought one a few months back and killed the shite out of some squirrels with it this year

If you don't wanna break the bank, just get a good AR with a 20" or 22" barrel. The lighter stuff in .223 can get some very impressive velocities.

My brother had a 700 varmint in .22-250 that was awesome. We used to shoot gallon jugs at 500 yards with it.

Most manufactures make a "varmit" version of their flagship bolt gun with a heavy barrel and wide forearm stock. Any of them will be good. Rem 700, tikka T3, ruger M77, etc

Post a budget for the rifle.

Youre on your own with caliber. .223 will be cheaper to shoot and good enough. .22-250 is cooler and faster.

no doubt, but I think that's about as small a caliber as I want. I don't know anything about a 204 but I'll check it out.

You will end up with this once you do Man its a fun round. Does everything a 22-250 will without the recoil. It is almost like shooting a rimfire. And if you can see it in your scope, you can hit it.

It is basically what most midwest hunters use for coyote now instead of 22-250. it is a near ballistic twin of the .22-250. Its flat with less noise, less recoil and less pelt damage

.17 HMR for most.
.22 Mag for fun.
5.56 for the rest.

Don't know if it would be enough for a pig but coyotes are no problem.

I have a TC Venture Predator in .204R and it is very, very accurate.

I have a Wby 5 panel Lasemark in Rem 22-250
it's the most accurate firearm I have ever seen in person.
I shoot everything through the eye with it, it's that accurate.

Savage with an accutrigger would be a great gun for what you're looking to do.

the .204 is essentially a .223 necked down to .20
The real parent case is the .222 rem mag but it and the .223 are pretty similar.

Enough so that I can take a .204 and turn it into a .300blk just like I can with a .223
