What's a good tick repellant for kids? Going up to a cabin in North LA and read about the abundance of ticks in the area we are staying.

Permethrin is the only thing that works for ticks. And, it can only go on clothes. That makes summer tough since most people are wearing shorts with plenty of places for ticks to bypass clothing.

We would use bens, but like Teague said we would just apply to bottom of pants/socks/shirt. Helped tremendously with chiggers

Yeah, we coated our hiking gear(clothes(underwear as well), packs, inner shoes, etc...) with it, no issues so far. Just have a set of clothing dedicated for it and wash separately. Havent had any issues yet, and have been in the N. Ga mountains pretty extensively this year

Spray in or wash in permithrin works well for clothing. A little DEET on exposed skin.

I use it. There is a version of it to put on skin and for ticks. Works great and sold everywhere, not sure why you are the only one to mention it. Cutter I think has one also that may even be for kids.

And an extra precaution,,, take some chlorox with you. Take a quick wash off bath with the bleach as soon as you get back to a tub. Take regular shower, etc. at your normal times.

Seed ticks are the biggest concern to me. Seed ticks are the spawn of Satan. And I do believe Arkansas is the seed tick capital of the universe.

Compression tights tucked into socks.

Spent 45min taking them off my 6yr olds nutsack and from now on he will wear compression gear under his shorts when in tick intense areas
