I do it all the time...works fine for me.

Don't get snobby when you ask for help and don't like a response.

You start saving them ahead of time. Maybe ask a couple of family members to do so also?

This. Shrimp will freeze better without the head. The first thing to turn on a shrimp is it's head plus the heads just take up a lot of space in your freezer.

I tried to vacuum pack headed shrimp but they still poked thru even when I doubled or tripled bagged. I bought both zip lock and ball plastic containers. I don't remember which one has the threads on the inside of the container but they didn't work to well.

your fish can fit in a milk jug?

Yep. 6 head off Bream or 2-3 head off Sacalait or 4.5 lbs of Red Grouper filets in a 1 gallon T.G.Lee milk jug....Now freezer space gets tight until the first fry but hey who can bitch about too much fish?

Surely you wrap it with something huh? It seems like it'd need to be covered.

Nope the ice protects the fish/shrimp. Think about the intact Wooly Mammoths and shite they find frozen up yonder....in Iowa
