Looking at getting next suppressor since the 30cal just cleared. Will be a pistol and rifle suppressor. What's the best in the market right now?

I would wait and see what happens with the HPA. I don't see a reason to buy one right now.

you want to use it for .22LR only or other rimfire calibers as well?

Rugged Oculus looks promising. They are an awesome company. My brother just sent in a job application to be a marketing manager for them actually

Don't wait for HPA...

If you wait and it passes, good luck finding a can in stock after the sandy hook type run that will be made on suppressors.

If you wait and it doesn't pass, then you just waisted all that time when you could already have your can in hand.

Buy now, pay your tax, and best case scenario it passes before your form 4 clears, in which case you simply cancel the form 4 (ATF then refunds $200 tax) and pick up your can from the dealer.

All that being said, I have a Dead Air Mask and Rugged Oculus in jail right now. Hopefully the mask comes through in the next month or so (went pending July 11th). Who knows when the Oculus will clear (pending Feb 18th).

Also look at Silencer Co Spectre 2. Gets great reviews and silencer co is offering $200 store credit for accessories with all suppressor purchases. If you have a sico 30 cal can there might be some stuff you could use. Or sell the coupon code. Going rate on AR15.com exchange is arround $130.

If HPA passes and they will still require the $200 stamp, you can bank on that.

Yeah I really would suggest not waiting. Already having a trust and not really worrying about the 200 dollar stamp it's not worth it to have to pay the extremely inflated prices once it passes and to deal with not being able to find any in stock for 3+ years

Fair points. My reasoning is that if HPA passes, the bottom is going to fall out of pricing. You'll have an incredible numbers of options...cheap. spending a few hundred or more on a 22 can will look crazy when you can buy them for a fraction of that.

I think that will be true...several years after the HPA passes. I'm guessing that suppressors will fly off the shelfs in days immediately following passage and that it will take some time for manufactures to build up the supply needed to drop the prices.

I do think it'll happen, it will just be a long wait.

I have the spectre 2, spend the extra money and get the silencer co sparrow. Much easier to clean and smaller, same noise reduction.

I don't have either can, so only going off of internet reviews, but it seems like the sparrow has much more first round pop, possibly due to being a mono core. Is that true in your experience?

I will say that having a wet tumbler with stainless steel media makes cleaning a breeze. Or just use the "dip" if you're comfortable dealing with the HAZMAT waist.

I have a SiCo Sparrow and ordered a Dead Air Mask once they came out. Doubt I'll ever take my Sparrow out of the cabinet again, the Mask is so much nicer in every aspect.

The first round pop is quite loud, and is probably my biggest knock on the Sparrow. It's definitely easy to clean, but so is the Mask. The materials and craftsmanship of the Mask are quite a bit nicer. There's no noticeable first round pop from the Mask, zero point of impact shift, and is significantly quieter.

Not as it is currently written. It actually refunds $200 to a certain date.

Did you read that paper the head of the ATF put out? He was pretty much saying the whole process just isn't worth it.

I saw the ATF white paper and it was pretty interesting. Acting director I believe wrote it. He was supportive of removing suppressors from NFA, and pointed out current problem of "suppressor parts" being treated the same as a "suppressor".

As far as $200 refund goes, is it an actual cash refund or a "tax credit". My understanding was it was a tax credit.
