I went out to False River a few weeks ago after not visiting for several years. We were in a bass boat but it struck me that it would be fun to take my kayak out there and fish the piers. Anyone have recommendations or advice for targeting bass out of a kayak on False River? Am I going to get run over by a cigarette boat like my wife is telling me?

I don't frequent false river much but I wouldn't think that would be a prime destination for powerboats ("Cigarette"). I know it can get rough out there though.

Me and a cousin used to take a two man boat with no chairs and get under the piers. Did pretty well that way.

No, you won't get run over. Especially this time of year.

I wouldn't try fishing on weekends till it gets cold. Then there is little boat traffic other then fishermen.

Jig and pig fishing at best then unless you can find a patch of grass. Crankbaits are a winner. Used to use Bandits in white in the winter.

False River is fine early morning until about 10:00. That's when all the ski boat drivers wake up and hit the water.

I don't think you'll have many problems with boats this time of year. I see people paddling in the morning for a workout all the time in kayaks and paddle boards. I don't think there is reason to worry the no wake bouys go out pretty far.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't plan on cross crossing the lake, just working my way up whichever side I start on.

I have a camp on False River, on the south end. At this time of the year, it is a ghost town on the water. I was there last weekend and only saw a couple of bass boats. Hardly any traffic. You will be fine.

truth! This is my favorite time of year around FR. No crowds. Paddle by Bueche's Bar if you are out there. I'll buy the first round.

Do people still catch bass there? We have a camp on the south end and I've never put much effort into fishing it.

I caught a couple of 2-3 pounders off of my pier throwing towards the bulkhead with a crank bait. Right when the sun is coming up! Where is your camp? We are right across from the Sandbar.

About a half mile towards the south end from the old Bonaventures. Not sure what it is now.

The old Bonaventures is called the Sandbar now. They have volleyball nets set up. Food is ok but I like Beuche's Bar and Grill better.

Didn't want to start a new thread, just getting the OB yakker feedback.

I have a brand new, in the wrapping Big Rig I'm trying to sell. They sent me a damaged one, then a new one to replace it.I can fix the damaged one and want to sell the brand new one. Is $1500 reasonable? It's around $1800 at Masseys I think, it was $1600 online
