I paid $99 each for these, brand new in the boxes. They retail for $599 each. They're all lefties which is all I use and Academy couldn't move them. They marked them down to $359 a few months ago and they still wouldn't sell so they dropped them to $99 to clear them out, I bought 7 of them, according to the computer I got the last 3 in the US over the weekend.

I had actually received $200 in gift cards for Christmas to go towards a Concept C, it would have been the first time in my life I own a non-Shimano reel, then I found these. These things are crazy smooth, I put all my other reels for sale right after I bought them.

I'm still tempted to try out a Concept C but I can't see them being better than these Antares.

You are talking about the old green E series Curado right

Yep have E7, CU200BSF, Curado DHSV, etc... have owned every model Curado previous to and including E Series.

Had the CU200 BSF and DHSV completely redone by Professional Sporting Goods and am going to sell

I highly recommend Lews, they are a great quality product for the price. I fish in both salt and freshwater and wash my rods and reels off when I get off the water. No problems at all

ABU Garcia's

Built by the same company that builds Pflueger. Doyo or Dawon.

In fact, on the upper end reels, most of the internal parts are interchangeable.

Which is why I believe Pflueger is the best for your buck. You're getting a $250+ Garcia for $150-$175.

Lew's super duty is a solid reel if you're using it primarily in salt water.

I have all tourney pro's and tourney lites and my fishing partner has a few regular speed spools. Both are hard to beat for the money, especially with amazon prices.

If you want to hit a higher price point, Lew's team lite and team pro are winners.

I am a Shimano only user. I've tried others but Shimano just holds up better. .
I fish over 100 days a year and have had very few failures.
Chronarch or Metanium are my models of choice.

To be honest, for throwing heavy lures like spinners and buzzbaits, I would get a cheap bass pro combo

I have multiple I bought for $40 that have had zero issues

My Curados never gave me any trouble. Had problems with a couple of my Calcuttas, but zero problems with Curado. And I did a ton of gold spooning for reds.

Every reel made since the early 90's has been trying to keep up with Shimano. I've got Shimano Curado CU200's that are 20 years old and work great.

What's funny is instead of sending my reels off I taught myself how to tear down, clean and service them all, even super tuning a few. Along the way I've bought and sold a few and always tear them down, clean and inspect before selling and I'm here to tell you there isn't much internal differences from a new Curado versus one that's 20 years old.

I have several reels that cost more than my Calcuttas -- none is as good as the Calcuttas.
