I doubt it. I don't think it's that big. But a lot of people will make a lot if money off of this because of our terribly flawed legal system.

Not likely, but the shitload of brine water being released could make it a lil salty...

Depends on what is stored in the salt dome. If its LP gas it could escape and water would fill the void left and pull Verret into the hole. If its oil the you could have oil coming to the surface for a long time.

But no one has said what caused the sink hole officially.

Hope nothing happens. Lots of pipelines and underground storage under that area.

This is the first thing I thought when I saw that article this morning. I'm sure every shitwheel lawyer in the area is going to mobilize to Assumption Parish. I'm sure the billboards and TV commercials will start popping up any day now.

If I head to Pierre part tonight what detour could I take with the road closure coming from sunshine bridge?

The only way around would be to take 996 that goes by the racetrack and then Hwy 69 back to Hwy 70. but I'm not sure that will detour the affected area. If not it will be a long ride to Pierre Part.

You guys should open your freaking eyes. You would think that people that post on the "Outdoors Board" would be lovers of the great outdoors and the waters and bayous of our beautiful state. You better open your eyes. Within the recent future, we won't be able to find one inch of Louisiana soil/water that hasn't been contaminated by oil and gas operations. its fricking shame. At least lawyers hold these guys accountable b/c the legislature certainly wont

Do what?

At what point did you get the sense that we do not care about the outdoors???
