Doc I work with just came back last week. "HE" said they shot a total of 27,000 doves. He shot 9,000 himself and used 55 CASES of shells.... They charged him $140 per case.... around $8k just in shells in 5 days

I seen some of his videos, it almost look like a swarm of locusts at some times, it was crazy

Any way you can bring your own shells? 140 for dove loads is a pretty steep.

Thats how they make their money. We negotiate shell prices and agree to shoot X amount of shells while we are there. Lodging and food and drinks are "free"

I have been fortunate to go a few times. As others have said shells will be by far your biggest cost. Food will be out of this world and you will be treated like a king. 90% of your flight into Buenos Aries will be americans going wingshooting.

My suggestions are to work now at finding either a dove vest with a VERY NICE shoulder pad in it now, make sure it fits you, may even want one custom made. Then bring 2-3 NICE pair of shooting gloves. Just loading your gun that many times all day will tear up your hands. Then just enjoy the experience.

No matter how much you like the doves, IMO the duck hunting down there is better. I guess it's to each their own though 100 ducks in a morning vs 1000 doves in a day, both are something every wingshooter should experience once in their lifetime.

I flew to BA in jan and can tell you this is inaccurate. Not sure what this statement even means. .
90% of people who fly to Argentina go for dove hunting?

Interesting that you didn't have any wingshooters (dove and or duck hunters) Being the season is CLOSED in January, and the peak hunting season in Argentina is May-August.

Thanks for playing come again sometime.

Good deal Tots, as long as I don't get into trouble taking a charter out this weekend in Venice (not looking forward to the weather at all) I'll plan on being there!

I'm going in a month as well. 4th trip for me.

All the advice I've heard is good - can't stress enough the need for a shoulder pad, shooting gloves, ear protection and shooting glasses.

Get over the temptation to be #1 in kills and enjoy the trip. We also get together and have games. A fun one is to have you and your bird boy as a team. 10 shots each. Total for each team wins the $. The bird boys are damn good shots.

Bring something fro the states for your bird boy - hat, shirt, multi-tool. Let them shoot a box a shells once a day while you drink a beer and give them shite when they miss.

Get used to hearing your bird boy (after you shoot) say "behind".
