Daniel Defense and Wilson Combat make some of the best AR10s available right now, and the new Noveske N6 will be a heavy hitter as well. Be prepared to spend, though.

Might as well throw the Larue on that list as you prepare thy anus and better get a double dose of KY since you do those rifles no justice with shite optics.

Is an AR-10 lower and an AR-15 lower the same? Or do they sell AR-10 lowers?

No. Primary difference is the length of the magazine well. The AR-10 lowers tend to be heavier, as the overall package will be heavier and in a heavier caliber. The AR-10 in .308 (7.62x51mm) is a short action 30 caliber round, 54mm in length, while 5.56mm NATO is obviously 10% shorter.

Yes, they do. You don't have quite the options on accessories, but you can (and folks do) essentially build up an AR-10 much in the same way hobbyists build up AR-15s from stripped lowers. Some parts are interchangeable. Some aren't, so be careful.

AR10 lowers are almost always brand-specific, DPMS has the most flexibility but it's generally suggested that if you plan on building an AR10 then you source the lower, upper, and BCG from the same manufacturer. I've researched building one just for the sake of it but I already have one semi-auto .308.

I defer to this advice 100%. Clames, Propagandalf, Carson and a number of others have way more experience in this area. I'm all over the theory and history of these guns, but I'm exactly 1 build into the hobby side of it, so I'm hardly an expert.

Have you been pleased with the Sig's performance?

I'd recommend checking out the M1A of some variety. You can't "dude" one up as easily as the AR-10, but as heavy as those frickers (the 10 and M1A) are unloaded I wouldn't want much "duding" on mine.

M1As are great shooters, I have one in good old wooden furniture. You do need to pick up some extra maintenance tools for an M1A though, proper gas plug wrench is a must. I shimmed mine to take up some of the slack where the gas cylinder attaches, very common procedure. Did that because I was already swapping out the factory Springfield gas cylinder for on with the proper bayonet mount. Also, M1As are more picky on ammunition; only use .308/7.62 NATO meant for service rifles and I actually avoid using US mil-spec ammo due to it being steel jacketed, just prefer to avoid the extra barrel wear if I can.

Check out Black Rain Ordnance they are a little pricey but I absolutely love mine! They are 100% American made in Missouri. Customer service is great as well, phone rings and an actual person picks up. Also check out the stress tests on youtube, its pretty impressive.

I have only taken it out shooting once. I won it in a raffle and when I did research after I saw some had issues jamming when new with certain ammo. i had that happen...I had a few different brands and some did and some didnt. Supposedly once you use it some it loosens up. This was a cpl years ago so I dont know if its the same. I do like it...I wasnt in the market so I didnt do any research on others...

There are AR-10s and LR-308s. They are NOT interchangable.

My lower is a DPMS with and Aero precision lower. It has a black hole weaponry barrel, PRS stock, MI handguard.

What about the RRA x-1 series in .308? I've been giving some thought to buying it, retails for $1800
