What do you guys suggest? also, is there any reason not to get .308? as in do they have an reliability issues compared to regular 5.56 ar15's? Dad is looking at getting one and wanted to know if there where in issues with them.

Also, what brands do yall suggest in that caliber.

.308 is an AR-10

Smith & Wesson makes a good mid level one. You can always go up to Daniel Defense, LWRC, etc if you're prepared to drop a lot of money.

The MR762 has no reliability issues but you pay for it.

Several years back. This is no longer the case, however. As CP3 said, the M&P10 is good. I would go GAP10, Daniel Defense DD5, Noveske N6, AD17, KAC SR25, Larue PredatOBR762, or LWRC REPR if the choice were mine.

I may be mistaken but I think the AR-10 was developed before the AR-15.

Anyway, I have one that I built. It's accurate as can be. I love it. No reliability issues at all even running suppressed.

I have a Sig 716 that I have shot a couple times. It has had some ftf issues and from what I read when I won it that was happening to a few. After running g router D's through and cleaning a few times they acted better. Some had to go back to Sig for some work. Some rounds were fine some were not. But for $45 (minus the scope) I'll keep it.

.308

I bought this one last year and modified it with optics and changed the stock. It was worth every penny.

Daniel Defense and Wilson Combat make some of the best AR10s available right now, and the new Noveske N6 will be a heavy hitter as well. Be prepared to spend, though.

I have the POF 415 in 6.8SPC and the P308, they will run anything you put in them, accurate as anything else, and built like a tank. Won't cost you as much as an HK, but you get a high end piston rifle that's as good as the HK, and lots better than an entry level gun.

Hah yea trying to cook dinner and type on my phone. After you run a few rounds they supposedly loosen up. I have only shot it about 15 rounds one outing.

Just purchased a Sig Sauer AR-10 DMR (gen 1). I really like the rifle, but have yet to shoot it. An AR-10 will set you back more money than an AR-15. My AR-10 ran me $2550.

I also recommend Daniel Defense if you're looking for a premium brand. I can't recommend the Sig as of yet, because I have not shot it, but it also looks like a quality rifle.

Here is my Sig:

It's wearing a Harris bi-pod, Larue LT-104 mount, and a Leupold Mark 4 M1 4.5-14x50 scope. Come December, it will also be wearing a Rugged Surge suppressor.
