I have the LEM big bite grinder and it can grind it faster than I can feed it. I need to add a foot switch for stuffing to be able to control it mord easily when stuffing by myself.

I had a Cabelas #8 .5 hp. commercial and it worked fine. I sold it and bought a Cabelas #22 1hp.Carnivore. This thing is a beast and a bit over kill. I would say most people including myself can get by with a 1/2 hp. Personally I would stay away from Lem. I've heard to many customer service complaints.

I bought the LEM .5 horse this past year. Processed 3 deer with it and ground various other meats. It like it and it does what I wanted easily. But I don't know how well it compares to other ones..

If you thinking about a cabelas model, do yourself a favor and buy a Weston instead. Cabelas grinder is a Weston with a different cover plate. The catch is that if a part should break you have to go through cabelas to order new part and it will cost twice as much.

I have a Weston #32. I got this size because of the throat. You don't have to cut your meat into small chunks when deboning.

I picked up the $99 .75 hp one from academy because I didn't want to take the plunge into 300+, and thought if it breaks then I'll have learned my lesson.

Three deer later, I have no issues with the grinder. It can handle anything you throw at it, aside from maybe bones. What I learned is that unless you're running a processing operation out of your house, you don't need an expensive grinder, you need cheap labor to debone, trim, bag, and clean up the mess.

I have a #8 Weston. Grinding is always the fastest part of the process. If you want to spend the money, buy a bigger grinder so you can feed it larger pieces.
