I bought the 7" Flex at the boat show in Gonzalez and the knife was dull straight out of the package.

My buddy bought one last week and it shaved arm hair right out the package

I don't think I've considered many factory edged knives "sharp" aside from a few that were honed by hand. Get a good water stone and hone it up.

This is what I expected from the things I have heard.

This is generally true but their claims are all about how sharp their knives are and how they don't need to be sharpened for years.

Like anything else I am sure it is possible to get a "lemon". You know the one that slipped through the cracks.....got by quality control. I guess I'm worried if I sharpen the knife and it doesn't hold an edge maybe they will blame me for the issues with the knife if I try to return it.

This camp I clean fish at sometimes has a couple. I like them alright, but I wouldn't buy one for what they cost. They're definitely not some miracle knife if that's what you're after. They sharpen just as well as any other knife and dull just as fast.

IMO Dexters are better blades.

If you listen to their testimonials or watch their videos online they are the best thing since truck nuts for plant workers.

Maybe they should be called snake oil knives.

Definitely. I used to use a Bubba Blade until I tried a Dexter. I will never go back to BB again

Just return it as defective, get your money, and go buy a dexter

So the internet lied to you, I am shocked. It is a decent blade with a good handle. Mine came out of the box sharp, and has held up well. I also have a Dexter that I like as well, and tend to use them both depending on the task at hand.
