I don't understand why GM doesn't update its engines. 80% of their trucks get the 5.3, which is underpowered. People on here say "yeah but the 6.2!" Yeah, but that's an uncommon option. Most optioned engine vs most optioned engine Ford and Toyota are crapping all over GM right now.

Pops told me once "a Ford guy will buy a GM and a GM guy will buy a Ford but a Dodge guy will always buy a Dodge. Dodge people are frickin' nuts"

This is kind of old school thinking and may not hold true anymore but I still see examples of this frame of thought from time to time.

Dodge has really stepped up their game lately. Motor trend's truck of the year two years running. I think they made serious upgrades when Mercedes bought them a few years ago when Obama bailed out Government Motors.

We have a 3500 cummins laramie in our fleet and its bad arse. Ive got a 2011 1500 hemi 4x4 and its never given me a problem. People knock on Dodge around here but theyve really stepped their game up. I like all of the major manufacturers btw--Ford, Chevy and Dodge.

Honestly you cant go wrong with either. However, I think the new Dodge trucks are the best on the market for the price and features. Go test drive both and Im sure you will see that Dodge produces a very good truck for the money. I am partial to Cummins Diesel engines. All of our Cummins have never given us any problems.

And you'll notice that the switch almost never goes the other way.

(Just sayin')

Once again, have any of yal looked at the 14 GMCs in person?

Yes they finally leveled the playing field as far interiors are concerned.

No such thing.

GMC Denali? Or Silverado High County?

Nice trucks, but trucks should not have 20" or larger wheels IMO.

They're now direct injection, which is a hell of an upgrade if you consider making things more complicated in the name of efficiency an upgrade.

underpowered

Have you driven a new one? Every half ton truck on the market right now has about twice as much horsepower as it really needs.

Just be damn glad you didn't buy that price o junk desiel super duty. Cost my friend $18 grand to fix his and after Ford didn't want the POS back on a trade.? Wouldn't do business with a company like that.

The deal is the ford engine won't and doesn't handle any water that gets in the diesel and the water separator they come with is real small once it gets full it dumps into the engine ruining it. This is NOT COVERED BY THEIR WARRANTY. It's for real a $18 grand fix and that is a. Fix not a new motor, this has happened to several people I know. If you have a ford diesel , install an aftermarket water separator,,($600) this comes from a knowledgeable dealer I know.

We had this happen to our Ford F550 Diesel. It didnt cost us $18k to fix though... We had to pay a diesel mechanic about $7800 to fix it. It was a fuggin mess. On the other hand, our Cummins have never given us problems.

Fiat is who bought them out. Benz had partial ownership back in the early 2000's, then Cerberus capital bought Chrysler took all of their cash and left them for dead....then the bailout...then Fiat saved them.

But yes, they aren't the blown transmission and cracked dash nightmares they once were.

Can't go wrong with any of the Big 3 + Toyota right now. All excellent trucks.

If you suck water into it it'll have the same problem and probably cost more. Cummins engines are notoriously expensive to repair.

If I had to buy a brand new diesel today I'd get a duramax.

Toyota has been left behind. All reviews I have read say the newest Tundra is a dog compared to the 2 Americans and the Italian.
