Is this the change Remington needs to get back on track?

It surely won't hurt things over there. They need to find a way to spin it to the public that he was the blame, afterwards, they really need to revamp their marketing techniques and actually start producing better products. perception is reality, the people will get back on board with them imo if they handle this correctly (may take some time). they really have nowhere else to go but up. that being said, frick Remington.

IMO big green has only one way to go – up. I’m a shotgun guy and they only thing below rem is moss and not sure that what you want to be measured by

Are the reviews for the R51 that bad?

Yep, Remington has turned into the low cost entry level gun company. Besides some 700 rifles what do they do well?

Looks like it's junk. I can't believe that they let that thing get out of the factory. QC must be non-existent.

They need to stop with the "junk gun" shite. Leave that to tikka, savage, moss berg and the like. Build high end 700s and 870s. That's their bread and butter.

Have you held one? I haven't even seen one in person.

I'm hoping their new factory in Alabama will bring heightened levels of quality control.

No I haven't. I just watched the video and couldn't believe how jacked up it was. I think the wrong person resigned from the company. No amount of marketing can overcome that kind of sub-standard production.

Is quality control a problem with their shotguns too?

I purchased a little 18" 870 a few years ago. Besides the finish sucking really bad, the gun has been as good as I expect an 870 to be. I spray painted it with rattle can paint and now the finish is not a problem.

Hope so too.

As far as the R51, it's getting scathing reviews.

My local gun shop received a new Remington R51 pistol and it suffers from a number of problems. I've spoken to Remington and this gun will be going back to them for repairs. They are sending another pistol out for review and I hope to have an update for you shortly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ65wbjq6t0

I would love to see high end 700's with barrels as accurate as the previously were. With out the QC this will never happen.

I shot an 1100 for 32 years. Had to replace one spring and a lost mag tube nut. Finally the barrel egged and I replaced it with a 11-87 in 2012. With this one I've Shot probably 2500-3000 rounds from 3" #4 all the way to
2-3/4 #8 target loads. If I clean it it will run anything through. Never understood the remington hate because mine have always performed.

My 1911 is a R1 and I like it. I got it when they first came out with it though. No problems thus far.

I also have a 700 .270 that's probably 15 years old. No problems with it either.

That being said, my roommate bought a synthetic 870 earlier this year and it just feels cheap as shite.

tampa - old 1100s are money - great guns, B guns today are made like old 1100s. The 1187s are not even a shadow of the 1100, I know I have had 3 and everyone I know that has one has had problems and eventually moves on. The versamax is a move back to the 1100 but we will see.

I've seen their 887 shotguns break at the range first time they were shot
One had the front sight fall off after the first round and the other locked up on the first trip

Would you say Mossberg is better now?
