I'm not going to lie, I attribute everything to one hell of a guide. If anyone is headed to northern Idaho, I have a great guide recommendation. Started out spin fishing a small lake but moved to a small creek to get our first taste of fly fishing. Spent four hours catching double digit number of trout that looked like this. We actually quit taking pictures after the fourth or so just because we would rather be fishing.

Fish of the day was this guy at 23 inches. My brother hooked one that would have been bigger but the it managed to straighten the hook just as we were about to net.
My grandparents owned a guide service where the White and Norfork run together in Northern Arkansas so I've had some good days on the water after trout but I've never seen anything like this. I may never have another day of fishing this good in my life, just had to share.

You look like a chipper guy even though you a hog fan

Nice haul, looks beautiful out there
Thanks for sharing

ETA: Are they spawning right now in those creeks or just a lucky day?

Saw "trout porn", but then realized it wasn't my genre.

Nice pics though OP. Looks like a solid catch.

Nice!

I too was expecting the wiley elusive Speckled Trout. But that kind of fishing looks amazing, I hope to try that someday...

The experience alone of being in northern Idaho adds a lot of value

Only a few times. Done a little offshore for the elusive Red Snapper and AJ. Grabbed a few grouper. Only one real excursion inshore for reds, specks and flounder.

Rainbow trout will probably always be my favorite. They just don't live in ugly places. On the way to the stream we saw a ton of mule deer, 4 bull elk and an antelope fawn that was still wet from being born. While fishing we watched pelicans, bald eagle, osprey and four or five species of ducks. Had several antelope watch us wondering why the hell we kept whipping the water. Even saw a few of the ridges behind us getting a light dusting of snow. Other than my brother and our guide I didn't see another person once we left the metropolis of Island Park. I'm not sure there was a motor running within 15 miles of us while fishing. Just didn't get that kind of peace in the salt, if anyone wants to prove me wrong I'm more than happy to go with you.

Hey there Hog,

Have you fished the tailwaters of the Beaver Dam, the start of the White River? Would love to fish a day on it and then a day on the Kings for smallies.

I haven't done much on the white that far up. Some great fishing though. If your in that area don't overlook the Norfolk tail waters. There is a reason it's called the miracle mile. Smallies on the kings is a worthwhile trip as well. Be prepared for pretty country.

Ask for Rance out of trouthunter. Grew up around fishing guides, spend all my time now with duck guides and have used a bunch of guides around the country. He was far and away the most enjoyable I've been around. I have his card if interested. He also has some rental cabins, might cut you a deal if using him.
