I would get on Gunbroker and get a Glock 19. You can find one in your price range. If you are new to pistols the Glock is absolutely simple to operate. I do not think you will like the trigger on the Sig250. Not even sure I would consider that a Sig.

Thanks Who, I'll start rereading

Cotton, I'm not new to pistols at all, I know how to handle them

All the reading I did about the Sig's trigger said it's stiff out the box, but after about 200 rounds (I'm guessing that's the standard amount needed to break the gun in), it loosens up

I've got several different Sig's and love them all except the P250. The trigger is crap and it's double action which makes it an extremely long pull.

Glock 19 is the only answer here.

You can get a 19 cheaper than that, and there's about 18 of them on Gunbroker, used in mint condition for sub $500

That's a badass gun.. does glock make a model 19 with a black bottom and stainless slide? Not a big deal, but if I could choose that'd be my number one choice of aesthetics

Man I'm just saying, I really don't care what the finish is, BUT if I had to choose that'd be my choice

Is that style frowned upon by the pistol gurus??

Guns are like most any product, you get what you pay for. If you want S&W, then get the M&P line.

No taurus. I have one that misfires all the time if you want it. My first pistol, dad gave it to me. Not even a good paperweight now.

Stick with the M&P, glock, or Springfield. That's as mainstream and well priced as you can get and maintain quality. Can be serviced just about anywhere, very easy to operate. Very reliable.

sweet gun, shot my uncle's in october.. a little out of my price range (i was told to pick out a pistol at or under $500.. i know that limits my options, but it's not a terrible price point)

VP9's can be found quite often online for just over $500 fwiw. Currently out of stock, but here's a site with free shipping for $519.
