before the trust law changes this summer i want to go ahead and order a suppressor for my mini 30 (7.62x39). i don't especially need it to be multi-caliber but i suppose that could be a plus

i have two gemtech's still in jail but i've shot with them and i like them a lot, so i was looking at the gemtech "one". others i see are the AAC 7.62, silencerco saker, etc. i would prefer it to be shorter in length, the rifle is carbine length (16" barrel) and i'd like to keep it as compact as possible

any reviews to share?

Silencerco omega. Check the dB for 7.62 but it's stupid quiet on 300 blk and it's rated up to 300 win mag

quote:

.300 BLK: 119.5 dB
5.56mm: 130.1 dB
.308 WIN: 133.9 dB

What Carson said. I would also add Surge 762 to his list though.

I'd add the sandman s to carson's list. I've been happy with it as well as the ultra 7 and my socom 762

I bought a YHM phantom. I'm sure there are better cans but I like it and it does a great job on my .300aac, 6.8 . And .308.

I would recommend on that's rated for a .300 mag just to be safe.

I may get an omega before long.

I would get an Omega. I have one and like it so much I bought another. Going to put the second one on my SBR 556.

other than the cool factor, which they do look cool, what is the benefit of a suppressor? They seem to be the latest rage these days. The cost of the stamp and the cost of the device for a gain of what? Not as loud? How about accuracy? Heavy?

It's like anything else you get what you pay. The Omega only weighs 13.7 ozs and on a 300 blackout shooting subs is stupid quiet. I have the 556 endcap and it suppresses 556 really well too. My first Can was an AAC 762 SD and I have it on my PWS MKII that has a 14.5 Barrel.

I have taken my suppressor hunting and I have noticed more benefits the more I've used it. Last year when I went hunting with Bleeding Purple I shoot a pig. I knew I hit the pig because first I heard the bullet hit and second because I saw the bullet hit through the scope. I was using a 330 blk out and with the suppressor attached you can hear when the bullet hits what you are shooting at. The sound that the bullet makes when it hits flesh is very distinct. Secondly when the suppressor is attached on my 300 blk out I get virtually zero muzzle rise so when I pull the trigger I can stay on target and watch for the impact of the round.

This is in addition to the obvious benefits of a suppressor.
